A vintage desk lamp in brushed aluminium and enamelled mustard colour metal with a vertical stand and adjustable arm which is fixed to the vertical by way of a tensioning mechanism. The origins of this lamp might be Italy - there are similar lamps made by Prova, some with a flatter base and some with a deeper base, such as this one. We suspect it was made in the 1970s and probably sold through BHS or similar.

The condition of the lamp is generally good and it is working order. There are some superficial scratches to the metalwork as to be expected of an item of this age and use, but the overall cosmetic state is good. The shade has, importantly, retained a good shape. Most likely, the base would originally have had a plastic cover, but this one does not have one.

A small clamping desk lamp with brushed aluminium finish typical of the 1970s. This one was made by Maclamp and was probably sold via Habitat originally. It features very clean lines and an attractive shape. The contrasting black plastic tubing and plastic clamp fitting add to the look, and allows the lamp to be attached to a horizontal surface such as a shelf or desk or to a vertical surface such as a wall unit and then positioned accordingly.
Despite its small dimensions it makes a bigger design statement with those sleek, shiny looks.

The lamp measures approximately 30cm in height overall, the shade measures 15cm from front to back with a rim diameter of 12 cm, and the flexible nexk measuring approximately 20cm in length.

This one is in good condition - not without some small signs of both age and use to the metalwork - and in working order, though as with all electrical items it should be safety-checked prior to use in its destination environment.

A very unusual vintage handheld lamp which was most likely used in a workshop or garage for inspections. Consisting of an aluminium shade with a wood handle, this item which probably dates from or before the 1950s but would make an nteresting and quirky piece of lighting now.

The original cabling has been replaced with a generous length (3m) of suitable braided neutral-coloured alternative and the lamp has been tested as working. It has an unusual rotating switch for turning the light on and off. There is wear throughout but both the metal shade and the wood handle have been sensitively restored to retain the character of the lamp.

The lamp has an oveall length of 30cm (12 in.|), the shade rim has a diameter of 19cm (7½ in.) and a depth of 18cm (7 in.), whilst the handle is approximately 17cm (6¾ in.) in length.

A vintage 1960s "Tabic" table lighter made by Sarome and presented in a black and aluminium colour scheme with chrome parts. It's a lighter, yes, but it's really all about that very distinctive sixties look, and this item makes for a very interesting decorative object in its own right.
Measuring approximately 14cm high (5½ in.) and with a basic diameter of 6.5cm (2½ in.), the lighter is in good condition considering age and use. There is some minor surface wear to the black enamel and wear to the base, as well as to the underside of the aluminium sections, but overall it is in good shape. As far as functionality is concerned, it sparks, but has not been tested beyond that.

Unashamedly orange and unashamedly blocky, this is the "LamPetit" desk lamp sold by Louis Poulsen and designed in 1966. Attribution is slightly confusing for the LamPetit, sometimes it is given to in-house designer Bent Gantzel-Boysen but there is also some evidence that it was designed by leading light of the mid-century movement, Verner Panton. Either way, the "LamPetit" is distincive - it is effectively two rectangular blocks connected by two pivoting and extendable armatures, the larger (and heavier, it contains a transformer) of the two blocks being the base, but there's a lot more to it than that. The genius of the design allows the base to sit horizontally or vertically, on a desk or table top, or be mounted to a wall, whilst the "shade" on its two arms can pivot to the desired angle for any of these orientations. The base measures approximately 12 x 7 cm x 7 cm (5 in. x 2¾ in. x 2¾ in.).

A push button switch, built into the base, is a three-position affair: cycling through "off", "low" intensity, and "high" intensity. The aluminium reflector built into the shade amplifies the light to provide significant illumination from what is a deceptively small source. The two extending armatures, chromed brass with colour-matched plastic allow for additional positioning possibilities, with a minimum height of 20cm (8 in.) to 40cm (16 in.) approximately.

The transformer built into the base allows 220-240V to be output as 12V so that the LamPetit can take a standard 25W or less motoring bulb with a B15 (small bayonet) fitting. The lamp is currently cabled to a two-pin European plug which can be used with an adaptor or replaced for usage elsewhere.

This particularl LamPetit is in very good working condition, with very limited signs of superficial wear and tear which are to be expected for an item of its age and use. There are no chips or cracks to the plastics and only extremely minor cosmetic scuffs and scrapes generally. An eye-catching and unusual light which would grace any mid-century home and which is sure to attract attention despite its relatively small footprint, no matter how you use it.

A rather chic and glamorous-looking Copal model 702 flip clock with pale gold coloured aluminium body and plastic sides. The clock has a slightly retro-looking black on white numeral display and a green light to indicate the activation of the alarm which illuminates the rolling alarm time display. That in itself is an unusual feature of this particular model. Cosmetically, this one is a good example of the model and it works flawlessly - the digits flip easily, the motor runs smoothly, and the alarm functions as it should.

The clock measures approximately 18cm (7 in.) wide, with a height of 8.5cm (3½ in.) and a depth of 11cm (4½ in.) and runs off a 50Hz AC power supply in the range of 180-260V and it is currently fitted with a standard UK three-pin plug.

Ripe for upcycling or re-purposing, this shade from a Paragon Focus-Spot Universal Enlarger offers a distinctive shape, a cool black and white interior and aluminium exterior colour scheme, and a retaining rod ready for clamping to a stand or suspending to form a new light fixture. The shade features its original label and at the end of the retaining rod the holder takes a standard bayonet bulb. Overall, the shade has very appealing signs of age and use for that industrial or minimalist look.

The shade measures approximately 24cm (9½ in.) in length with an opening of approximately 20cm (8 in.). The retaining rod allows the bulb holder to be positioned along a length of approximately 8cm (3 in.) inside the shade and is held in place via three small knurled screws at the rear of the shade. The lamp will require rewiring and safety-checked in whatever form it is used.

A pair of Tefal saucepans in bright orange colour with pale grey interiors presented in unused condition, complete with original stickers intact. Even the knob for the lid is still in place on the "wrong" side, having never been removed as per the instructions. There be may one or two minor signs of storage wear but otherwise these are absolutely as they would have been when initially bought. These would look the part in any retro kitchen, and although they could of course be used as designed, they could also be retained in this condition and serve as vintage decorative items (the handles have "loops" which would make hanging them easy). The bright orange would certainly add colour to any !

The two pans are as follows:

rim diameter 17.5 cm (6¾ in.), base diameter 16cm (6½ in.), height 8cm (3¼ in.) not including lid.

rim diameter 16.5 cm (6½ in.), base diameter 12.5 cm (5 in.), height 8.5cm (3½ in.).

Almost more a decorative item than a board game, this is a strikingly designed "Ludo" set produced by Rumbold Gallery and sold during the late 1960s. It's quite unlike most other Ludo games, featuring as it does a white plastic (perspex or similar) board which sits up above the surface, aluminium playing pieces, and a minimalist black and white aesthetic throughout. It's Ludo, most certainly, but an adult version with "mod" sensibilities. It's as if Mary Quant had designed it, in many ways.

The set is in good condition with only very minimal signs of any use, whilst the outer box does have more significant signs of age and storage wear and tear. The board measures approximately 30cm square with a height of 5cm (12 in. and 2 in. respectively) and the playing pieces measure approximately 1.5cm (5/8 in.) square. A pair of original (somewhat discoloured|) playing dice are included.

A true design classic and an adjustable lamp like no other, the Hebi lamp made by Valenti of Italy is a coiled tube which literally provides flexibility: the entire structure being twistable and turnable throughout its length courtesy of an articulated metal inner and plastic outer "tube". An aerospace engineer, Isao Hosoe moved to Italy in his early twenties to establish his own design office in Milan. The Hebi lamp (Italian for "snake") of 1970 propelled him into international recognition and earned the lamp a place in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

As well as its snake-like body, the lamp also has a rotatable metal shade in brushed metal which provides additional positioning possibilities. Ours is in good clean working condition, with minor wear and tear to the shade, some slight discoloration to the metal parts in places, and a couple of very minor indents to the shade which are barely noticeable without close inspection. We have decided to leave these imperfections "as is" rather than attempt to make the lamp look "new" again with significant polishing etc. It's an almost 50 year old lamp despite its modern looks and so, aside from cleaning it, we have respected that and done no more. The buyer might wish to fully polish the shade and metal parts but that would not be our choice.

The "body" of the lamp measures approximately 128cm (51 in.) with an additional 1.5m (59 in.) of flex. An inline switch provides an on/off button and the rubber sleeve which marks the meeting of the flex and the body is embossed with "VALENTI MADE IN ITALY". The shade is approximately 9cm (3½ in.) in diameter.
