A renowned name in medical illustration, (Prof.) John Hull Grundy was also an entymologist, teacher, anatomist, author and artist of considerable repute, exhibiting throughout his life and notably in 1976 at the Royal Army Medical college where his full range of works - done in his trademark stippling style - were on display. His wife, Anne Hull Grundy (nee Ullmann) was also a signifcant figure in the art world, a collector and benefactor whose bequests and donations can be found in substantial quality and number.

This framed print of a waterside scene is a nice example of Grundy's delicate and meticulous stippling technique. Measuring 21.5cm x 17.5cm (8½ in. x 6¾ in.) inside a frame 33cm x 37.5 (11 in. x 14¾ in.) the work is complemented by a pale green mount. We rather like the presentation but also think that a contemporary re-framing and re-mounting of it would do a lot to enhance what is a very striking piece.

A very nice vintage wooden artist's box/carry case by Reeves & Sons Ltd., which dates from the late 1960s or early 1970s. In a rich golden wood finish the box is solidly made and has high quality carpentry throughout, making it not only fully functional as intended but also just a very nice-looking object in itself! They dont make them like this any more!

Inside the hinged lid, you'll find a number of compartments for paints, brushes, etc., an original palette and clip-on wells. In excellent condition, the box measures 36cm (14in) by 25cm (10in) by 6m (2¼in). We have cleaned and restored the outer box and given it a wax finish, but have left the interior untouched. We think the palette itself is a work of art, so have done nothing to it.

A framed original pencil drawing of the West Screen inside St. Peter's Church in the centre of Nottingham by artist Alan Sherwin.

The artist has annotated and signed the drawing, which is mounted inside an aperture of 10cm by 21cm (4 x 8¼in) with a frame measuring by 24cm by 40cm (9½ x 15¾in). The drawing has some signs of age, including some discolouration, but is a very good piece which would not only be of considerable local interest but also more generally as a fine drawing and example of ecclesiastical art.
