Set of three Washington Pottery “Flower Power” design plates

Usually when we mention a "flower power" design it's a generic term for the kind of bold floral designs typical of the 1960s and 1970s, but in this case it's a literal label. These are "Flower Power" design plates by Washington Pottery, the same people who brought funky fish and colourful cows to our tables, in their "Aquarius" and "Beefeater" ranges respectively.

Each plate features a single flower in bright and bold colours and a suitably funky design and we have three of them here. They measure approximately 23cm / 9 in in diameter and all three have stamps to their underside. They are almost dinner plate size, though these are more likely to be decorative pieces, we would think. There are some small surface losses to the designs and some marks - a kind of discolouration - throughout the three plates as well as kiln marks, and one plate has a small nick to it. However, these are hard to come by and make a great ensemble, so these imperfections have to be seen in that context.

Funky Golden Yellow and Black EKS Kitchen Scales Made in Sweden

What can be said that the photos don't say!? Bold design (1970s Ford Capri, anyone?), bright golden yellow, black and white colour scheme. A highly usable set of old school kitchen scales. Swedish. Made by EKS. That's it - just look at them! These have got to be the funkiest looking kitchen scales you've ever seen. If not, then get in touch, because the competition is on!

The scales are in excellent working condition with very minimal signs of wear or age to the plastics. They measure approximately 20cm (8 in.) by 16cm (6¼ in.) by 15cm (6 in.) when in the "stored" position shown in the photo, and approximately 24cm (9½ in.) by 16cm (6¼ in.) by 18.5cm (7¼ in.) when in use with the tray on top of the base. There is a calibration dial on the face of the scales and the weights are displayed primarily in Kilogrammes and then secondarily in Pounds and Ounces.

Fab Flowery Light Towel Fabric in Blue with Vivid Colours

A vividly coloured and flowery fabric in a lightweight towel style material with white tassled edging and blue ground. A perfect piece for a retro-fuelled picnic, table setting or just for the pure joy of its visual appeal (sunglasses recommended - the colours in this really are outstandingly bright!).

The fabric measures approximately 108cm by 108cm ( 42½ in. by 42½ in.) and is in very good clean vintage condition.

Set of four 1970s blue “flower power” cups and saucers by Staffordshire Potteries Ltd.

A very bright and cheerful set of four cups and saucers, designed by Elayne Fallon for Staffordshire Potteries Ltd. The blue kaleidoscope-style "flower power" pattern of the cups is accompanied by equally splendid bright blue saucers. If you want a truly retro cuppa then this set might just fit the bill. 1974, Baby!

This set is clean and free of cracks and fully stamped, though one or two saucer stamps are somewhat indistinct. If we were nit-picking we would say that there's the odd blemish to the glaze in a few places and the bases are a little bit rough, but they are in excellent shape overall and certainly eye-catching!

The saucers have a diameter of 14cm (5½ in.) and a depth of 2cm (¾ in.). The cups have a rim diameter of 9cm (3½ in.) and a height of 6.5cm (2½ in.)
