Very Original Black Bauhaus Styled Bullet Desk Lamp with Ball Joint Shade

A very original Bauhaus-styled black desk lamp with chrome hinged arm which rotates through 180 degrees and a distinctive bullet-shaped shade and ball and socket joint for adjusting its position. In full working condition and with original contrasting red switch, the lamp has bags of character and a striking design. Almost certainly originally made in continental Europe (German or French, possibly), and dating from at least as far back as the 1950s, the lamp has general signs of age and use throughout (including some minor dents to the shade). It has not been restored since the patina adds so much to its appeal, but it has been carefully cleaned.

The curved arm measures approximately 25cm (10 in.) in length and the lamp stands at a maximum height of 41cm (16 in.) with the arm positioned vertically. The base is 15cm (5½ in.) in diameter with a height of 2.5cm (1 in.). The shade is 15cm (6 in.) in length with an aperture diameter of 13cm (5 in.). The bulb holder is a large bayonet style and the lamp currently has a cable of approximately 120cm (47 in.) length. The underside of the base has an opening for wall-mounting the lamp. The wiring has been renewed, but as with all electrical items, an inspection and safetly test in your own environment (PAT testing in the UK) is recommended.

Lloyd Lamp High Intensity NA101 Made in Japan (Black) Nanbu

Designed in 1966, the Lloyd NA-101 High Intensity lamp truly belies its small dimensions and minimalistic exterior. Superbly engineered and housed in a glossy black plastic casing, the NA-101 lamp has two light modes and the clever design allows for it to function not only as a small but highly adjustable desk lamp but also as a small nightlight. With the light mode set to "low" and the shade positioned onto the top of the base, the lamp is a sleek bullet-shaped light providing soft illumination. With the arms extended, the transparent rim of the shade becomes a feature in itself, whether in "low" or "high" modes. The shade is rotatable providing even more flexibility.

A stand which otherwise sits snugly inside the base can be extended out to provide extra stability. Overall, this is a stunning piece of design: form and function working in harmony. When folded into its bullet shape, the lamp measures no more than 8cm x 19cm and fully extended measures approximately 41cm.

This particular example is in very good condition. There are minor surface scratches and marks to the plastic casing, which would be expected of a used item of this age. The metal armatures are good with only very superficial blemishes. Neither of these is very noticeable and we would state that is one of the better examples you might come across. Small, but perfectly formed!

World War One Brass Trench Art Scimitar Shaped Letter Opener

A nice piece of World War One trench art made from brass with a bullet casing incorporated as the handle to form a scimitar sword shape - most likely to act as a letter opener. These are often described as being French in origin, but as with all items of this type, it can be difficult to verify their exact place of manufacture.

The letter opener measures approximately 18cm by 4.5 cm (7 in by 1¾ in).
