Vintage Anglepoise Lighting Model 99 Gooseneck Desk Lamp in White

A very appealing Model 99 Gooseneck Desklamp made by Anglepoise with that very distinctive shade shape. Already one of our favourite desklamps, and in many ways now a classic, in our opinion. Very functional and good-looking and with minimal loss of space. Perfect for a small desk or corner illumination. This one is predominantly white with black accents to the base, gooseneck and switch.

Overall in very good condition, with only some signs of wear and age, notably some minor surface loss / scrapes. These are less significant when in actual use and the lamp displays well and is an attractive desk light as well as highly practical.

Vintage Mustard and Brushed Metal Adjustable Desk Lamp

A vintage desk lamp in brushed aluminium and enamelled mustard colour metal with a vertical stand and adjustable arm which is fixed to the vertical by way of a tensioning mechanism. The origins of this lamp might be Italy - there are similar lamps made by Prova, some with a flatter base and some with a deeper base, such as this one. We suspect it was made in the 1970s and probably sold through BHS or similar.

The condition of the lamp is generally good and it is working order. There are some superficial scratches to the metalwork as to be expected of an item of this age and use, but the overall cosmetic state is good.The shade has, importantly, retained a good shape. Most likely, the base would originally have had a plastic cover, but this one does not have one.

Small Brushed Aluminium Clamp Lamp by Maclamp 1970s

A small clamping desk lamp with brushed aluminium finish typical of the 1970s. This one was made by Maclamp and was probably sold via Habitat originally. It features very clean lines and an attractive shape. The contrasting black plastic tubing and plastic clamp fitting add to the look, and allows the lamp to be attached to a horizontal surface such as a shelf or desk or to a vertical surface such as a wall unit and then positioned accordingly.
Despite its small dimensions it makes a bigger design statement with those sleek, shiny looks.

The lamp measures approximately 30cm in height overall, the shade measures 15cm from front to back with a rim diameter of 12 cm, and the flexible nexk measuring approximately 20cm in length.

This one is in good condition - not without some small signs of both age and use to the metalwork - and in working order, though as with all electrical items it should be safety-checked prior to use in its destination environment.

Large Mushroom Colour Brass Gooseneck Maclamp Table Lamp

A brass gooseneck desk or table lamp made by Maclamp which probably dates from the early 1970s in a familiar mushroom colour (a dark cream tone, if you prefer) which is quite notable for its size. Much larger than some of the Maclamps of the period, this particular model stands almost 60cm (24 in.) tall when the neck is extended vertically. Also of note is that the gooseneck on this lamp also extends all the way from the shade to the base - there is no rigid portion at all. The lamp has a standard Maclamp base (approximately 15cm / 6 in. in diameter) with a switch, and over 2m (6 ft) of cable.

In very good condition with just some minor signs of age and wear. The lamp takes a standard "bayonet" style bulb,

Vintage White Maclamp No. 8 Desk Lamp designed by Terence Conran

An iconic design and a highly sought after lamp because of its versatility and good looks in almost any situation, this is the No. 8 Maclamp designed by Terence Conran. Initially conceived as a wood and metal structure, this later model - dating from the 1960s to the 1970s - features plastic arms with integrated cable guides, a plastic covered cast base and metal shade, but the fundamental design is the same. And it just looks good.

This one is in good overall condition. There are some signs of age and use throughout and some surface losses around the rim of the shade and a small dent to it. The base was not in very good condition and has been sanded and re-sprayed with white enamel and given a gloss finish. It's not perfect when closely inspected, but the repair has given back the lamp its good looks, as the original base was distractingly worse for wear.

The lamp is full working order and has an inline switch on the cable and a UK three-pin plug. As always, buyers are advised to perform a safety check of electrical equipment in the environment within which it is to be used.

Vintage Gooseneck Desk Lamp in Gold with Perforated Shade

An unusual gooseneck desk lamp finished in a pale gold tone with brass fixtures, which has a distinctively-shaped base and perforated shade. Most likely dating from the 1950s - although the maker is unknown, its origins are probably Continental Europe, based on the styling.
It's in good condition overall with some minor signs of both age and wear, but nothing which detracts - quite the opposite in many ways. We've added a subtle soft neoprene pad to the underside of the base, to protect surfaces when in use, but it's otherwise untampered with.

The lamp measures approximately 40 cm ( 16 in.) high with the neck fully extended. The base measures approximately 14cm (5½ in.) long, with a maximum width of 12.5cm (5 in.), and a height of 1.5cm (1 in.)

Rare Concord Rotaflex Super Mini Wall- or Ceiling-Mounted or Freestanding Desk Lamp

A rare and unusual lamp - the Super Mini - made by Concord / Rotaflex, which has a few distinctive features which make it stand out from the crowd. First, is a plastic shade which is half ball-shape but planed off on two sides. Second, is the very straight and slender armature. Third, and most unusual of all, is the cube base which freely rotates within a mount (the cube also houses an internal transformer, incidentally). This means that the Super Mini can be used on a bedside table or a desk, can be mounted to the wall, or can even be attached to the ceiling. This was its selling point at the time - the flexibility of that mounting fixture when combined with the base.We believe that this lamp dates from the 1970s.

The lamp measures approximately 40cm in height. with the base being approximately 8cm by 9cm.
This one is in good working condition with a caveat. The plastic fixture which attaches the shade to the armature has been re-glued. It feels sound and works as it should, but it should be pointed out that there has been a repair. Ultimately perhaps a new plastic part might be needed. Otherwise, there are minor superficial grazes to the plastics as to be expected from an item of this age and use.

1940s Bauhaus Original 6739 Desk Lamp designed by Christian Dell for Kaiser Idell

A stunning and original example of Bauhaus design, this is one of a variety of lamps designed in semi-modular fashion by Christian Dell for Kaiser Idell. It doesn't get much more stlyish than this, where form and function are so elegantly and efficiently combined to create an attractive and functional piece of lighting. This is the 6739 desk lamp which has the familiar, trademark shade shape, a clamp fitting, and is built to last a lifetime and beyond. This one most likely dates from the 1940s and is in un-tampered -with condition. There is patina to the enamelled shade which has been left "as-is" because the lamp wears it well and, to our eyes at least, it looks much more attractive than one which has been re-sprayed and looks too perfect.As it is, this is a highly sought after and aesthetically pleasing example of pure Bauhaus style.

The only intervention on this lamp has been new felt on the clamp section - just to ensure it doesn't cause damage to the surface.

The rigid part of the lamp neck measures approximately 32.5cm (12¾ in.) with the flexible gooseneck section slightly shorter than that. The "foot" of the lamp - which also houses the push button switch - measures approximately 5cm (2 in.) in height. The shade is slightly oval in shape with a maximum diameter of 21.5cm (8½in.)

1950s Articulated Pifco Desk Lamp in Dark Cream and Chrome

As adjustable and as handsome as an Anglepoise - in our opinion- this 1950s Articulated Pifco Desk Lamp in dark cream and chrome, is perfect when a much smaller footprint and more compact design is required. Featuring articulation via two ball and socket joints, the lamp provides a very high degree of flexibility contained within a visual package of stylish conical shade and circular base in cream, and armatures and joints in chrome. If you'd like something a little bit different from an Anglepoise or need a smaller vintage desk lamp with a bit of style to it, then we think this should be a potential candidate ;)

The shade is not mishapened and there are no major dents or dings, and the chrome is in good condition considering the age of the item. The base has some minor scrapes and rusting - particularly to the bottom edges and near the switch - but nothing that undermines the good looks of the lamp and we don't feel that we would undertake to renovate these. What we have done, however, is re-wrire the lamp with an unobtrusive black flex which is carefully complemented by the colour of the switch housing, itself a replacement for the original which was beyond repair. The end result is a subtle reinvigoration.

The buyer may wish to renew the felt on the base (pictured). Post re-wiring we decided in the interests of originality and minimal intervention to reinstate the worn felt which is perfectly adequate in use but, depending on the buyer's preference, could be easily replaced with new felting (the moulded shape for the felt to be adhered to is present and serviceable).

Please note: this lamp will be shipped without a bulb, but it takes a standard bayonet fit.

Vintage Pifco Model 971 Classic Gooseneck Desk Lamp in Cream

A particular favourite at Anything In Particular, the Pifco Model 971 gooseneck desk lamp is a design classic in many ways. This one is a neutral cream colour, perfect for a mid-century modern interior or indeed for a contemporary one. The lamp is fully adjustable with a sturdy and heavy base, features a characteristic cone-shaped shade and can be wall mounted via the slots on the base. A good quality, distinctive desk lamp.

This one is in good condition with just the odd minor scuff or scrape to the shade and some minor rusting/discolouration around the switch, but very few dents or dings otherwise. The base measures approximately 13cm wide and 11cm deep, with the shade being approximately 16cm long with a 10cm diameter at the front. With the neck extended to its full height, the lamp measures approximately 43cm. The wiring has been checked and a new switch added, but it is recommended that buyers inspect and safety test (PAT in the UK) electrical items before use.
