A vintage travel game made by Onsworld, this is "Crossword" - one of a range of dice-based games made by the company which are instantly recognisable if you were a child of the 70s. This one is complete with seemingly minimal use, if any at all. It even has the original price sticker on the outside of the box: £1.15!

Original Cast Metal Sprung Small Decorative Letterbox

A heavy and durable letter box with classic decoration which has some age behind it and plenty of life left in it. It would be the perfect complement to a period property with a Georgian door, notwithstanding that the letter opening is somewhat small - and quite snappy - by today's standards ;)

In full working order, the letter box measures 27cm by 8cm (10.5in by 3in) in terms of outer dimensions, with an opening of 14cm by 3.5cm (5.5in by 1.5in.). The letter box is predominantly black in colour but has remnants of white paints on the edges from previous use.

Unusual 1970s Scrabble Travel Edition by Selchow & Righter (1977)

This travel version of the classic word game is an edition that is uncommon in the UK. This is the Selchow & Righter version from 1977. The game itself is in good condition with original case, tile bag, wooden tiles, tile racks and board which is built into the case. Those with a knowledge of Scrabble will see how different this is from the Spear's version - it's the same game, but packaged completely differently. It has some interesting features - the fold out plastic board, the way the tile racks are held in the case for storage, the compartment for storing the tiles and... that bright blue! There's none of that staid green colour scheme and cardboard here! It's brown and bright blue plastic all the way... very 70s.

The outer cardboard sleeve has signs of wear and use and a couple of tears, but it's condition is reasonable considering. Please note, there are no instructions included in this set, but standard instructions can be easily found online and printed.

Vintage Travel Scrabble by Spear’s Games (1958)

The classic word game in a classic travel edition from 1958, by Spear's. In good condition and complete - including original blue bag for the scrabble letters (usefully labelled as "Bag For Scrabble Letters"!) - the only minor blemishes being a drink stain (pictured) on the outer box and some scuffing and a small dent to the interior plastic housing which is reflected in our price.

Kan-U-Go Word Game by Porterprint Ltd., vintage and complete

A complete vintage card game, Kan-U-Go, by Porterprint Ltd., originally registered in 1934 The box has signs of age and wear, but the game is complete and the instructions are present and still attached to the box lid.

One for the collector of vintage toys and games or indeed for anyone who enjoys a good word game - "Thrilling and Absorbing".
