A fab orange perspex pendant lampshade, which dates from the 1960s and consists of two layers of "petals" which combine in a lotus flower fashion to create a very space age style look. The shade is both heavy and well constructed, weighing in at over a kilogram. The top consists of a metal upper ring section into which the petals are screwed with an intengrated "spider" for accommodating the bulb holder. There are six larger outer petals and six smaller inner petals. Depending on the kind of bulb used it can either provide a soft glow effect or something a bit more illuminating with the light coming out from between the petals and from underneath. The sahde is easily assembled - the petals are screwed into place in pairs with a retaining nut on the inside of the shade. The shade will be sent disassembled if postage is required.

Approximate Measurements:

Overall Height (when suspended): 25cm
Diameter at widest point: 30cm
Top opening diameter: 10cm

In good condition with only very minor signs of age and use, i.e. some very superficial scratches to the perspex but no chips, cracks or other anomolies.

Vintage Carved Wood Metamorphic Lotus Flower Table Lamp

An extremely unusual metamorphic table lamp with a carved base and double-layered flower head which opens and closes to reveal the lamp. The section immediately below the petals rotates and acts as the mechanism to allow the head to open and close. Below this there a three carved open flower heads and another three buds, and lower still a carved base comprised of more buds and leaves with an opening for the flex.

The petals are all present and the head opens and closes as it should. One of the petals is a replacement of a missing original piece and there have been some repairs to the petals over time, but neither is noticeable except under close inspection. The original bulb holder has been replaced with a smaller one - one that allows the head to be fully closed with an appropriately sized bulb - and the lamp has been rewired with a modern inline switch on suitably vintage-looking plaited flex. As with all electricals, a PAT test is recommended before use in your environment. There are some minor signs of age and wear to the petals, minor losses to shape, but otherwise it is sound and there are no breaks or cracks to the carving in general.

The lamp measures approximately 41cm (16 in.) in height when closed, with the the bulb holder being approximately 28cm (11 in.). The base measures approximately 15cm (6 in.) in diameter. When fully opened the head measures apprxoimately 30 cm (12 in.) in diameter.

An unusual pair of bowls and plates in a lotus flower and lily pad design made by Branksome China and probably dating from the 1950s. In good condition with no chips or cracks but with possible minor imperfections from the manufacturing process. The white bowls in the lotus flower shape look very crisp and stylish and sit nicely on the green plates which have a complementary leaf shape and texture. Both the plates and the bowls are stamped underneath with the maker's mark: "Branksome China, England". The flower bowls have a slightly glossier finish than the plates which have a more matte look to them.

The bowls measure approximately 13cm in diameter and have a depth of 4cm.

The plates measure approximately 16.5cm in diameter and have a depth of 1.5cm.

A fine simulated pearl necklace dating from the 1950s/1960s made by Lotus and presented in its original tiered box. The necklace is 38cm (15in.) in length and comprises three gradated strands of simulated pearls finished with a decorative and ornate clasp with yellow-green stones. The back of the clasp is stamped "Lotus". The box is original and in reasonable condition, bar some slight "foxing" to the inner liner and some minor wear to outer edges and corners.

The simulated pearls are in good condition, but it should be expected that there will be minor grazing from age and use. The clasp and fittings are all robust and in good condition. This is a very fine example indeed and three-stranded versions are somewhat uncommon.

The box measures 26cm (10in.) by 9cm (3½in.) by 2.5cm (1in.).

These fabulous Cathrineholm lidded saucepans or casserole dishes feature the renowned and highly desirable "Lotus" pattern, designed by Arne Clausen and made in Norway. Dating from the 1960s and made of high quality enamelware they continue to look great and work great to this day.

Ours are in a very cool retro colour green and are in excellent condition. The only minor blemishes are some very slight rusting in places on the rims and some minor wear to the bases, but as you can see from the photos, this is barely noticeable and certainly doesn't affect their look nor their functionality. There are no chips to the enamelling and the handles have retained a great shine.

We have variations available as follows:

16cm Rim Diameter, 12cm Base Diameter, 8cm height. Marked "MADE IN NORWAY". [SORRY - SOLD OUT!]

18cm Rim Diameter, 14cm Base Diameter, 9cm Height. Marked "CATHRINEHOLM OF NORWAY". [SORRY - SOLD OUT!]

20cm Rim Diameter, 16cm Base Diameter, 10cm Height. Marked "MADE IN NORWAY". [SORRY - SOLD OUT!]

22cm Rim Diameter, 18cm Base Diameter, 10cm Height. Marked "CATHRINEHOLM OF NORWAY".

Each comes with its original handle and lid which also features the maker's mark stamped into the handle underside. The handles can be removed to turn the pan into a casserole/serving dish.

Please contact us if you are interested in purchasing the entire set or a combination of sizes and we will happily discuss pricing on that basis.
