A rare opportunity to purchase an original boxed chromed Newton's Cradle. This is the Loncraine Broxton "Ballrace" which made its first appearance in the late 1960s. This one probably dates from the 1970s and is a very good example. Whilst it was originally sold as a kind of novelty item for the executive desktop or the living room, it now has genuine appeal both as a decorative item in itself and as a design piece from its era. In many ways, it might almost be said to be iconic.

This one is in good order cosmetically - just a few signs of age and use and some very minor signs of pitting to the chrome. The box is in good shape too, with minimal wear, considering its age.

A rare and unusual pencil box, made by Rolinx and of an early plastic construction, with a very clever tambour design. Pushing the roll top open reveals the top layer of the pencil box with various sections providing room for erasers and the like. Pushing the lid all the way to the end until it clicks then opens a door which reveals access to the lower layer, where pens and pencils are stored. It all works perfectly and the box is nice and secure when the lid latches in place.

Cosmetically, the box is in pretty good shape too. As an early plastic the colouring isn't totally even throughout and there are the remnants of a sticker on the side, but otherwiis it's good - no chips or crack, just some general signs of age and wear. It measures approximately 21.5cm long by 10cm wide with a height of 4cm (8½ in., 4 in., and 1½ in. respectively).

Something a little bit different, this is a draughtsman's (draftsman if you're in the US!) adjustable triangle tool made by British Thornton - more famous for their slide rules - and dates from the 1960s. In terms of functionality, this is likely to appeal to engineers, architects, and other technical drawing specialists, but in terms of aesthetics, it appeals full stop.... or maybe that's just me! The packaging is very nicely done, with the triangle sitting inside the box alongside a protective pouch and with instructions for use included. The outer box is a little worn and has some discloration but the contents inside appear to be completely unused.

A funky-shaped red (with a hint of orange to it) wind-up alarm clock made by Metamec and dating from the 1950s-1960s. The angular body with a basically irregular octagon shape sits squat on two angular feet with a softened rear to it. The body houses a pearlescent white face with gold coloured hands and numerals behind clear plastic, with a slender white alarm button on top.

In good, working condition, the clock measures approximately 14cm wide by 10cm high by 6.5cm deep (5½ in. by 4 in. by 2½ in.). The plastic face cover has just the one small blemish to it, but is otherwise clean and clear.

A charming die-cast metal toy Royal Mail van made in 1957. This is Morestone Budgie model number 11 and it is in good condition, although somewhat playworn on edges and corners where there is some paint loss, with good axles and wheels. The model does not have its original box, but it makes for a great display piece on its own.

A very attractive and Art Deco-influenced Smiths mantel clock with an eight-day wind and four jewels. The rectangular dark wood casing and numerals are offset by the clock's contrasting blonde face. The clock keeps good time and is fully working with only minor signs of wear and tear (a few nibbles to the wood and some minor rusting to the movement housing at the rear.)

A handsome piece and a large statement - it measures 24cm (8½ in.) across, is 17cm (6½ in.) in height and front to back measures 8cm (3¼in.) including movement housing.

Elegant and rather minimalistic, this pair of zinc silver-plated vases were made by "H.B.C" in England and probably date from the mid-Century. They would look superb as part of a chic and modern table setting.

Each vase measures approximately 18.5 cm (7¼ in.) high with a base diameter of 6.5 cm (2½ in.) and an opening of slightly less than an inch (2.5cm). The vases have felt-covered bases which are stamped and are in good overall condition, with some superficial wear and tear and blemishes which are to be expected of an item with this age. One of the two vases has a minor "ding" on its rim which is not very noticeable except upon closer inspection. Each vase comes apart into three sections - we even suspect that the base and lower section could be combined together to use as a candle holder, but we're unsure if this is intended or not.
