This gives a kaleidoscopic-style experience to the viewer of whatever they are looking at - there are no viewable materials inside the tube itself. It's a classic colourful toy in good condition (although one end of the box is missing) and it is fully working. This is the larger of the two "Octascope" versions which are to be found out in the wild, the "tube" measuring almost 20cm (8 in.) long.
