Vintage Denby Pottery and Teak Salt and Pepper Pots Set – Danish Design

A pair of vintage and extremely uncommon Denby salt and pepper pots, combining Denby's stoneware expertise with the Danish design of Kurt Franzen of Digsmed to give these teak-bodied condiments a mid-century flavour. The fixed pottery tops - we think these were designed as part of the "Romany" range or at least would be a good match for it - have a grey-brown speckled gradient and are perforated with an "S" and a "P" in the top. The rounded teak bodies have a plastic stopper in the base for re-filling.

Measuring approximately 10cm (4 in.) in height, and with a maximum diameter of approximately 6.5cm (2½ in.), they are in very good used condition - the salt pot has a firing defect which has been glazed. They individually weigh approximately 220g.

Large Modernist Stainless Steel Salt and Pepper Pots by WMF Germany

A pair of - frankly - oversized salt and pepper pots made by WMF (the artist formerly known as "Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik") of Germany. They are beautifully sculpted from stainless steel with a form which resembles something like a brutalist hourglass, and they are indeed large (almost 8cm / 3in. in height and 6.5 / 2½ in. in diameter). They're a bold statement.

There's not much more to be said - you'll probably either love them or hate them. They are in good condition with the odd surface scratch, and a screw stopper base to allow for re-filling. And just in case you are wondering, the two pots are indeed different from one another in terms of which is salt and which is pepper. The former has larger holes from which it dispenses...
