With its elliptical face and curvaceous body, this Rhythm 2 Jewels Alarm clock presents a handsome slice of 1970s design. It would be going too far, perhaps, to call it space age, and also too far, perhaps, to call it minimalist, but it comes close on both counts. The clock face is a metallic bronze-purple colour depending on the angle of the light and there are no digits on it, just metallic pieces with orange detailing. There are flourescent sections to the hour and minute hands and a slim minute hand, as well as alarm time indicator. The clock is in working order and has a pleasant tick which is certainly audible (just in case you require or prefer a silent timepiece). Around the back of the clock are knobs to set the time and the alarm, as well as an adjuster for the accuracy of the clock, and a red push button which serves to activate or deactivate the alarm. The alarm itself is a good old-fashioned ringer which is effective.

The clock measures approximately 14.5 cm (5½ in.) at its widest point, with a height of around 12 cm (4¾ in.) and a depth of 7.5cm (3 in.). It's presented in mostly very good cosmetic condition - the chrome is nice and clean, the body is good aside from a small blemish on the left hand side (see photos), and there's a little bit of dust inside the face.

A lampshade which has a pedigree surpassing its unprepossessing looks, this is the "Dice" Lampshade designed by Uffe Gustav Schiøler for Hoyrup of Denmark and then acquired and later sold by IKEA. A 19cm rounded cube of plastic with circular semi-opaque panels which protrude slightly. This one is in a suitably 1970s shade of orange and is the pendant shade variation - there were desk / table lamp versions as well.

There are some minor aspects of the condition which should be noted, principally that the top curved white panel with the ring for the bulb holder is not as even as it might be. It's secure but has deformed, and although it would most likely be out of sight in normal use, the potential buyer should be aware of it. Also to the top is a hairline crack to the orange plastic - it doesn't feel like it's a worry structurally and there's no sense of becoming worse. Again, it is not noticeable in ordinary use.

The "spider" ring (for fitting the bulb holder) is not original but is a good fit for the lamp. Otherwise, the lamp is in good shape with only minor superficial surface scratches as to be expected of an item of some age.

Please note, the sale is for the shade and spider ring only. No wiring or buibholder is supplied.

A fab orange perspex pendant lampshade, which dates from the 1960s and consists of two layers of "petals" which combine in a lotus flower fashion to create a very space age style look. The shade is both heavy and well constructed, weighing in at over a kilogram. The top consists of a metal upper ring section into which the petals are screwed with an intengrated "spider" for accommodating the bulb holder. There are six larger outer petals and six smaller inner petals. Depending on the kind of bulb used it can either provide a soft glow effect or something a bit more illuminating with the light coming out from between the petals and from underneath. The sahde is easily assembled - the petals are screwed into place in pairs with a retaining nut on the inside of the shade. The shade will be sent disassembled if postage is required.

Approximate Measurements:

Overall Height (when suspended): 25cm
Diameter at widest point: 30cm
Top opening diameter: 10cm

In good condition with only very minor signs of age and use, i.e. some very superficial scratches to the perspex but no chips, cracks or other anomolies.

A very cool looking small desk lamp made by Maclamp (designed by Terence Conran most likely) in a rather space-age style with a mostly white finish - the shade being metal and the base having a plastic cover - and a black gooseneck. The lamp has an unusual button position and style too, and it has a very minimalist aesthetic overall - clean lines, no fuss.

This one is in good working order and in generally good condition except for some small scratches to the shade and some minor surface losses to the rim of the shade and to the back of it. The base is in good shape aside from a couple of grazes to the plastic, and there is little in the way of discoloration which is always good. All in all, it's a good-looking lamp with understated appeal.

The lamp measures approximately 38 cm (15 in.) in height when the neck is fully extended. The base has a diameter of about 13cm (5¼ in.) and the black gooseneck section is 24cm (9½ in.) in length. The cable (UK plug) is approximately 180cm (71 in.) in length. The lamp holder takes a large bayonet bulb.

An iconic slice of 1970s design, this is the Bush 538A wall or table clock with radio, designed in Italy by Adriano Rampoldi and sometimes badged as a Europhon H30. There are some minor differences between the two models (notably to the front and rear panels, but they are essentially the same unit: a large curved plastic body with sloping front and rear surfaces. The radio ontrols are at the front (or bottom if wall mounted) and the speaker is to the rear (top if wall mounted) and on the top of the body a very handsome and stylish clock with distinctive hour and minute hands and subtle sweep hand.

This one is the Bush-marketed model and features a MW and LW radio with tone and volume controls. The radio is powered independently of the clock, via battery or 9V adaptor. The sound is quite "beefy". The clock - with its German-made movement - runs off a "C" size battery and has a time adjustment and speed correction screw. It seems to run smoothly, but please bear in mind that this is a vintage item and has not been recently used and decide accordingly. It would almost certainly benefit from daily use and/or a service.

This one is in very good condition cosmetically, with no chips or cracks to the plastics or the clock face. The only defect is the missing end cap for the "off" button. It's in the rarer orange colour, as opposed to the seemingly more common white, which makes it all the more desirable. The battery compartment is clean and the AC adaptor input works. There are hanging fixtures on the underside of the unit for wall mounting. As should be expected there is some crackle to the volume and tone knobs, but nothing which lingers once the volume or tone has been set.

Measures approximately 32cm (12½ in.) in length, with a width of 23cm (9 in.) and a depth of 10cm (4 in.). It weighs approximately 2 Kg. Please note, due to restricitions on the posting of batteries, none are included in this sale.

A rare and unusual lamp - the Super Mini - made by Concord / Rotaflex, which has a few distinctive features which make it stand out from the crowd. First, is a plastic shade which is half ball-shape but planed off on two sides. Second, is the very straight and slender armature. Third, and most unusual of all, is the cube base which freely rotates within a mount (the cube also houses an internal transformer, incidentally). This means that the Super Mini can be used on a bedside table or a desk, can be mounted to the wall, or can even be attached to the ceiling. This was its selling point at the time - the flexibility of that mounting fixture when combined with the base.We believe that this lamp dates from the 1970s.

The lamp measures approximately 40cm in height. with the base being approximately 8cm by 9cm.
This one is in good working condition with a caveat. The plastic fixture which attaches the shade to the armature has been re-glued. It feels sound and works as it should, but it should be pointed out that there has been a repair. Ultimately perhaps a new plastic part might be needed. Otherwise, there are minor superficial grazes to the plastics as to be expected from an item of this age and use.

A vintage 1960s "Tabic" table lighter made by Sarome and presented in a black and aluminium colour scheme with chrome parts. It's a lighter, yes, but it's really all about that very distinctive sixties look, and this item makes for a very interesting decorative object in its own right.
Measuring approximately 14cm high (5½ in.) and with a basic diameter of 6.5cm (2½ in.), the lighter is in good condition considering age and use. There is some minor surface wear to the black enamel and wear to the base, as well as to the underside of the aluminium sections, but overall it is in good shape. As far as functionality is concerned, it sparks, but has not been tested beyond that.

Designed by Pierre Cardin, the Pifco 983 is a small telescopic desk lamp with a somewhat space-age look which dates from the 1970s. The white shade and body contrast with the black panel which features a switch which provides low and high intensity settings as well as turning the lamp off. This particular telescopic lamp is one that retracts and folds into a compact form when not in use. The shade is positionable and the telescopic arm extends almost 40 cm (16 in.). The base itself is a rectangular curved shape approximately 12cm (4¾ in.) by 7cm (2¾ in.) by 7cm (2¾ in.) .

This one is in very good condition. There is minimal discolouration to the white plastics (as is sometimes the case), there are no chips or cracks to the shade or the body, and it is solid and fully functional. In summary, this is a very good example of this particular variety of lamp.

One for the minimalists, this is a Thorn TDRN100 desk lamp which has more than a hint of space-age styling about it. It's a simple affair - a tubular bulb holder on a vertical stand with a no-frills tightening knob, and a simple circular base, all in stylish white with a smooth gloss finish. Topped off with a good reflector spotlight bulb (large screw fitting) and a contrasting orange power cable, and you have a sleek and modern light which says less is more.

The vertical stand measures approximately 38cm (15 in.), and the circular base has a diameter of 17cm (6¾ in.) and a height of 2.5cm (1 in.) In very good and fully working condition. A reflector bulb is included with the item. Please note, there is no power switch on this lamp in its current state.

A fairly standard electronic clock radio from the 1970s, this is the Decca ECR-150 with all of the features you might expect from such a product of the time. What's appealing about this one is how it's delivered - in a silver housing with a forward facing display and a horizontal black panel with white labels containing most of the buttons, switches and other controls. "Space-age" is a dreadfully over-used term these days, but this certainly has a hint of it with the styling. The digital display is a very attractive green and this green is present also in the tuner section which illuminates when the radio is on.

There's a dimmer function (high/low!), a three band radio, treble/bass switch (it's either/or!), wake to buzzer or radio, a snooze function, and also a sleep function.

In good overall condition. Undoubtedly the silver plastic casing is less vibrant and less "metallic" than it once would have been and there are a few grazes to it and to the black control panel section. There are the remnants of a some attempts to "postcode" it along the right hand side and underneath - a surface etching, but nothing disastrously eye-catching! The only other things to note are a slight dent to the snooze button and that the time and alarm set buttons require a little bit of wiggling to engage. But these things aside, this is a good-looking item of its time in a clean and tidy condition.
