Credit Card Sized Casio World Time Quartz Alarm Clock CC-120U

Jon Nix — Mon, 12 Jun 2023 12:36:11 +0000

In the days before mobile phone did almost everything, there was quite a market for credit card sized everything - calculators, clocks, and alarms. This one is a Casio CC120-U made in Japan and featuring world time capabilities, an alarm, 12 or 24 hour display, dual home and worldtime display and it should fit in almost any pocket. The provided case doubles as a stand and it's all rather handsome and would have felt very hi-tech at the time.

This one is in very good condition and fully working, complete with original box and instructions.

Palitoy Fun Flyer – flying toy for younger children, 1979 – Made in Japan

Jon Nix — Tue, 02 Aug 2022 19:42:32 +0000

Immune to the vagaries and unpredictableness of modern air travel, this is the Palitoy "Fun Flyer" from their "Discovery Time" range. It's a colourful battery-powered toy for the younger child which consists of a rotating aeroplane, controls to pilot it, and some cardboard obstacles (a mountain and an office building) to avoid. Originally made in Japan, this is a very fun toy to play with, notably due to these obstacles and also the ability to perform loop-the-loop aerobatics with the plane! This one is in very good condition - a couple of minor issues only. One, is the lack of instructions but that's not a problem, given that it's so simple to use. Second, the missing stickers on the aircraft wings. Again, in our opinion, a very minor flaw. The stickers elsewhere are in excellent condition.

There are no chips or cracks to the casing and mechanically everything works as it should. It does benefit hugely from using the best possible batteries (size "C") you can lay your hands on. The battery compartment itself is nice and clean - no corrosion. The box is a little bit worn and the original owner, Nicola - hello Nicola! - has written her name on the front of it. We hope she doesn't mind that we're selling it on after having had a good old play with it.

Vintage Orange Galet Terraillon Kitchen Timer designed by Roger Tallon

Jon Nix — Wed, 23 Dec 2020 15:44:56 +0000

A plastic pebble-like design icon, the "Galet" kitchen timer was designed by Frenchman Roger Tallon for the Italian company of Terraillon in the 1970s. It is a simple effective design, comprised of two halves of a squashed "sphere", with the upper half rotating to wind up and choose the time delay which is visible in white text on a black dial through the small lozenge-shaped window. The timer is attached to a 14 inch / 36 cm loop of rope allowing it to be hung up or carried. The timer emits a ringing bell when the delay has elapsed and the timer will run for up to 60 minutes.

This one is the orange variation (you may have also seen yellow and red versions) and it is in good condition overall, with just some minor superficial surface wear. It is fully functional.

Promotional Cadbury Chocolate Block Clock

Jon Nix — Tue, 17 Mar 2020 15:48:06 +0000

For the chocolate lover or Cadbury fan in your life or for yourself, it's always chocolate time with this clock! ;)

A big chunk of chocolate-coloured plastic with gold-coloured hands and face design incorporating the familiar Cadbury logo, that's the basic description over and done with! Believed to be a promotional item, the clock is fully working and in good condition with just some minor superficial wear and tear, the most notable of which is a ding to the edge just above the indicator for 3 o'clock on the clock face and some minor wear to the "Cadbury" text. The clock runs on a single "AA" battery and measures approximately 20cm (8 in.) square with a depth of approximately 6.5cm (2½ in.) not including the hands. Please note: the clock movement has an audible tick but not a disturbingly loud one.

Chad Valley Hickory Dickory Dock Money Box Clock

A very colourful and rather charming metal money box made by Chad Valley and depicting the nursery rhyme "Hickory Dickory Dock" with a clock face (non-functioning) serving as the opening for the box and for helping children with learning the time.

The box measures 9cm x 9cm x 6cm and is in very good condition, bar a small scratch to the side (pictured).
