1980s British Telecom (BT) Genie Corded Push Button Telephone in Ivory (TSR 8023)

Somewhat iconic. Somewhat kitsch. The "Genie" push button telephone was a prevalent item in many British homes during the 1980s, and, depending on your tastes is one of those two things, perhaps both. The distinctive rounded shape with handset mirroring the base housing the push button dial was supplied by British Telecom to households in a variety of colours - here in a rather neutral ivory tone. From a technical point of view, the telephone was the first to utilise an electronic ringer, and this as a model Telephone SR 8023, also therefore comes with Last Number Redial facility ("LR" buttons). Cutting edge.

This particular one is in good condition considering it's almost 40 years old. The plastics are free of chips or cracks and although there are one or two surface marks and some minor discolouration, it is otherwise visually good. There is some wear to some of the numerals on the push-buttons (see photos). It's not been tested and therefore should only really be considered as a decorative item unless you're willing to get it tested and/or updated.

Vintage Novelty Sardines Fishy Puzzle Game 1970s Hong Kong

"Packed in Pure Fun". The "Sardines" fishy puzzle is a novelty toy which is both an immediately pleasing concept and packaged in a colourful and interesting way. The aim of the puzzle is to get all of the little sardines back into the tin. It's a little harder than it might first appear - there is only one solution - but helpfully the answer is given on the underside of the "tin". In bright orange and blue, this is 1970s plastic fantastic at its finest. It's just a fun item and it would make for a gift that is certainly different from the norm.

Vintage Danish Kay Bojesen Hanging Fur and Teak Wood Figure

Almost certainly made by Kay Bojesen, this vintage Danish figure with wooden teak body and long articulated arms and fur hair is often referred to as a caveman. Caveman, gorilla, ape... who knows, but what is certain is that this smiling figure - who can either hang from his hands or can stand in position - has quirkiness in abundance. with painted noise, eyes and mouth and oversized hands and feet.

The figure measures 18cm (7 in.) approximately in length from head to toe and 28cm (11 in.) in span from hand to hand with arms outstretched. It will hang from a nail or hook, or from a shelf, or can free stand with a little persuasion. He's in good condition considering his age, just suffering from some slight fuzzying of his fur around the eyes, some gaps to the fur around his legs, and some wear to the painted surfaces.

In the style of Kay Bojesen, this vintage Danish inspired hanging figure with wooden body, long hooked arms and fur hair invariably causes a smile on the face of those who see it as broad as its own smile. In good vintage condition - with some minor wear and tear to the paintwork and most likely re-strung at some point - it's a slice of kitsch decor which has great appeal to this day.

Sheerlite Cascade Fibre Optic Lamp from the 1970s

A slice, or rather tube, of glorious kitsch-ness from the 1970s, this is the Sheerlite "Cascade" lamp which is a twist on the fibre-optic lamps of the time. With its semi-transparent (smoked-ish) main tube and gold base, the "Cascade" lamp gives off a general glow from its body whilst the white fibre optics then cascade out from the top and provide the extra interest. There's no colour changing or other gimmickery to the lamp - but it's a great little lamp for those wanting a more subtle fibre optic light than is generally the norm. It's certainly kitsch to modern eyes, but it's certainly on the sophisticated, glamourous side of it!

In good condition with only minor signs of wear and tear to the body and some discolouration to the inner tube. One or two slightly deformed optics are the only other things of note. The lamp is fully functioning.

Vintage Worcester Ware Blue Tudor Spice Storage Canisters and Rack

Ever-so-slightly kitsch (OK... more than a little bit kitsch) spice or herb storage canisters in the Blue Tudor design made by Worcester Ware and dating from the 1960s or 1970s. The four small metal storage canisters - which have secure pop-off lids - are complemented by the original rack for wall mounting.

In excellent condition and seemingly little used, if at all. Each canister measures approximately 8cm (3 in.) in height with a diameter of 6cm (2¼ in.), including the lids and the white metal rack measures approximately 26.6 cm (10 in.) wide, 6cm (2¼ in.) high with a depth of 7cm (2¾ in.). The rack has two fixing holes for hanging.

Vintage Kitsch Tony Wood Studio Pottery Grey Cat Creamer Jug

And now for something completely different... and it doesn't get much more different than this Tony Wood Studio cat-shaped jug for milk or cream. You might think it incredibly kitsch (I'm not sure I'd disagree) or a fine piece of cat-themed tableware - the choice is yours, of course. It's certainly going to make someone as happy as the cat who got the cream. (Sorry).

The jug is in good condition bar what might be some wear to the right cheek of the cat, with no apparent chips or cracks, and measures approximately 12.5cm (5 in.) in height.

Vintage German Hustadt Leuchten “Daffy” lamp

Quirky is an often over-used word in the worlds within which Anything In Particular moves, but in this case it's fully justified. The Hustadt Leuchten lamp is very much worthy of the word quirky and worthy of its nickname - the "Daffy". Let's get it out of the way - this lamp stands on a base which looks like duck feet. There, it's been said. Made in the 1960s, this rarity is orange for the most part, save for the chrome section of the shade, and is a small desk lamp with adjustable head and with the added feature of being wall mountable too. It might be an odd duck, but it's a practical one.

This one is in good condition considering its age. Expect minor wear and tear and some superficial scratches and surface loss etc., but no major dents or dings.

The lamp measures approximately 23 cm in height, 13cm in width and 15cm in depth and has an original inline switch on the length of cord.
