Vintage Large Red Metal Floor Ash Bin / Ashtray

Once upon a time, not so long ago... these were everywhere. Outside offices, cinems, restaurants, pubs. They were recognisable items of furniture almost, but obviously now are a relic of a time now past and gone. A large vintage metal cigarette ash bin or floor-standing ash tray in red with suitably demonstrative signage. And by large, we mean it's 30cm (12 in.) long, 16cm (6¼ in.) high and has a depth of 24cm (9½ in.)

In good condition considering it probably spent time outside in the elements - rust has been cleaned off carefully to leave a good balance of cleanliness and originality, the insides cleaned, the metal has been wiped down and a subtle wax finish added. It would make for a quirky piece of home decor (in either horizontal or vertical orientation) or might be a perfect fit for the collector of tobacciana who wants a slightly larger item in their collection!

Vintage University or College “MAIN LECTURE THEATRE” Sign

Vintage signage from an academic building, a college or university which reads "MAIN LECTURE THEATRE" in white Sans Serif lettering on a black ground. The sign is made of a clear plastic/acrylic with a re-painted black rear face with a hole at either end for affixing to a wall. A nice piece of institutional signage which would make a quirky gift or would simply help direct people to the place in your home where the lectures usually take place! ;)

The sign measures 38cm x 5cm (15 in. x 2 in.) and is in good overall condition. There is a small imperfection to one edge under the "M" of "MAIN" but this is not noticeable without close inspection.

Vintage Engaged Sign in Cream with Black Lettering

A quirky little item, this "ENGAGED" sign which presumably was originally used perhaps for a meeting room, or perhaps a much smaller room (!), to indicate that it was occupied or in use. In an off white ground with black lettering which is slightly impressed, the sign is made of a plastic material with holes for hanging the sign on the appropriate door handle. The sign has at some point been used in an office, because it would appear that someone has etched the word "OFFICE" on the back of it by hand. We think this piece could continue in use with its original purpose, but it also might make for a quirky engagement gift for a soon-to-be wedded couple with a sense of humour.

The sign measures approximately 6in. by 2 in. (15cm by 5cm) and comes complete with string. In good general condition, with some signs of age and use.

“Off Limits” institutional sign

Perfect for a "Man Cave" or as a quirky "staff-only" or "no-entry" sign, this rather stylish institutional "OFF LIMITS" sign is of some age and appears to be made of Bakelite. It has crisp cream lettering debossed on a black background.

Its dimensions are 12 in (30cm) by 2.5 in (6.25 cm) and it has holes in each corner for attaching at your chosen location. The sign is about 1/8 in (3mm) thick. Overall condition is very good with only some minor chipping and wear to the edges as you might expect from something of this age, but the surfaces are clean and undamaged.

A real find, we think, and it would look striking on the door of your beloved/difficult teenager/spouse's room or in fact almost anywhere where a little privacy should be observed. And observed in a more stylish manner than a tacky modern sign would suggest!
