A small clamping desk lamp with brushed aluminium finish typical of the 1970s. This one was made by Maclamp and was probably sold via Habitat originally. It features very clean lines and an attractive shape. The contrasting black plastic tubing and plastic clamp fitting add to the look, and allows the lamp to be attached to a horizontal surface such as a shelf or desk or to a vertical surface such as a wall unit and then positioned accordingly.
Despite its small dimensions it makes a bigger design statement with those sleek, shiny looks.

The lamp measures approximately 30cm in height overall, the shade measures 15cm from front to back with a rim diameter of 12 cm, and the flexible nexk measuring approximately 20cm in length.

This one is in good condition - not without some small signs of both age and use to the metalwork - and in working order, though as with all electrical items it should be safety-checked prior to use in its destination environment.

A brass gooseneck desk or table lamp made by Maclamp which probably dates from the early 1970s in a familiar mushroom colour (a dark cream tone, if you prefer) which is quite notable for its size. Much larger than some of the Maclamps of the period, this particular model stands almost 60cm (24 in.) tall when the neck is extended vertically. Also of note is that the gooseneck on this lamp also extends all the way from the shade to the base - there is no rigid portion at all. The lamp has a standard Maclamp base (approximately 15cm / 6 in. in diameter) with a switch, and over 2m (6 ft) of cable.

In very good condition with just some minor signs of age and wear. The lamp takes a standard "bayonet" style bulb,

Vintage White Maclamp No. 8 Desk Lamp designed by Terence Conran

An iconic design and a highly sought after lamp because of its versatility and good looks in almost any situation, this is the No. 8 Maclamp designed by Terence Conran. Initially conceived as a wood and metal structure, this later model - dating from the 1960s to the 1970s - features plastic arms with integrated cable guides, a plastic covered cast base and metal shade, but the fundamental design is the same. And it just looks good.

This one is in good overall condition. There are some signs of age and use throughout and some surface losses around the rim of the shade and a small dent to it. The base was not in very good condition and has been sanded and re-sprayed with white enamel and given a gloss finish. It's not perfect when closely inspected, but the repair has given back the lamp its good looks, as the original base was distractingly worse for wear.

The lamp is full working order and has an inline switch on the cable and a UK three-pin plug. As always, buyers are advised to perform a safety check of electrical equipment in the environment within which it is to be used.

A very cool looking small desk lamp made by Maclamp (designed by Terence Conran most likely) in a rather space-age style with a mostly white finish - the shade being metal and the base having a plastic cover - and a black gooseneck. The lamp has an unusual button position and style too, and it has a very minimalist aesthetic overall - clean lines, no fuss.

This one is in good working order and in generally good condition except for some small scratches to the shade and some minor surface losses to the rim of the shade and to the back of it. The base is in good shape aside from a couple of grazes to the plastic, and there is little in the way of discoloration which is always good. All in all, it's a good-looking lamp with understated appeal.

The lamp measures approximately 38 cm (15 in.) in height when the neck is fully extended. The base has a diameter of about 13cm (5¼ in.) and the black gooseneck section is 24cm (9½ in.) in length. The cable (UK plug) is approximately 180cm (71 in.) in length. The lamp holder takes a large bayonet bulb.

Sometimes attributed to Hala Zeist, though more likely a variation on the Maclamp model TL33, this iconic-shaped desk or bedside lamp features a perforated conical shade and brass gooseneck. Dating from the 1970s, it is presented in a yellow tone and is in good condition with only minor signs of wear and tear. The shade, perforated in two places (stars near the open end and circular holes near the closed rear), is notable in that it has retained a very good shape. The circular base houses a centrally located simple on-off push switch in black and white. An uncommon lamp, in an unusual colour, and in very presentable condition to boot.

The lamp measures approximately 38cm (15 in.) high with the neck fully extended, the neck itself is about 26cm (10 in.) in length, and the lamp base is approximately 13cm (5 in.) in diameter.

If there's any colour that says 1970s as much as avocado does then it just might be this one, the colour of this twin spotlight floor lamp. We believe the lamp was made by/for BHS in the style of Terence Conran's Maclamp Super Bl Floor Lamp for Habitat (this one is missing the plate under the base which would have had the maker's mark on - otherwise we'd be able to identify it conclusively as a Conran).

We'd call the colour mushroom, a sort of light brown/grey and although that doesn't sound promising when expressed like that, this set of spotlights really does look good.

With its fully adjustable twin spotlights, this lamp complements the mushroom colour with black detailing and a gold tone metal adjustable stand onto which the spots clamp. The base is plastic and weighted down internally in metal and it stands steady. The black box containing the two independent switches and the black coiled power cabling all add to the 70s vibe of this light. This really does look the part...

The stand adjusts from a minimum height of around 120cm (47in) up to a maximum height of around 170cm (67in) and the base is 27cm (10½in) in diameter.

Condition-wise, it's all really rather good. The plastic base has some minor scratches and there are signs of use on the stand and around the adjusting wings on the spotlights, but these are things that a "normal" observer wouldn't spot (excuse the pun) and are only noticeable with very close inspection. It's in good shape overall and it works perfectly.
