A novelty item (well, items) from the 1950s which would probably have been a pocket-money toy, possibly even bought from a vending machine, these are a pair of alka-seltzer powered miniature toy boats. There's not much more to be said about them really, except that presumably they still work as per the instructions provided.

A small group of vintage East German "Erzegebirge" wooden village miniatures, comprised of 10 houses (7 red roofs and 3 blue roofs) and one civic building with a clock. Only one bears a stamp underneath which reads "Made In GDR" but they are all of a kind. In good vintage condition with some signs of age and use, but nothing which is detrimental.

Overall, a charming little display set which adds a quirky touch of colour to a shelf and is a good example of Erzegebirge craft.

A wonderful little collection of vintage East German "Erzegebirge" wooden village miniatures. The set includes walls (five), houses (five red, four blue), a church and what appears to be a town hall - with these two latter buildings bearing a stamp underneath which reads "Made In GDR". In good vintage condition with some signs of age and use, but nothing which is detrimental - rather the opposite. One of the wall pieces does however have some red ink on it (please see photograph), but we have left that "as is".

Overall, a charming little display set which adds a quirky touch of colour to a shelf and is a good example of Erzegebirge craft.

For the desk with everything but a vintage novelty dog with propelling pencils, we present to you a vintage novelty dog with propelling penciles for your desk. Despite the obvious kitsch/quirky credentials, the item is very nicely cast and is substantial in weight if not in size.

The die-cast white metal dog, measuring 3¼ in (88mm) long, pulls an equally diminutive cart with holes for the pencils (measuring 1¾ in./4.5cm each not including tassles) and probably dates from between the 1930s and the 1950s. The pencils have some minor discolouration and dents and the metal shows signs of wear, but overall it is in good condition, with no damage. The underneath of the cart is marked "FOREIGN".

A real curio believed to date from the 1950s, this is a miniature Muffin The Mule book entitled "Muffin Goes Home In The Snow" which measures just 5 cm by 3 cm (2 in by 1¼ in). It appears to have been the gift in festive crackers produced by Caleys of Norwich and the book references "Caley Muffin Club Crackers", so it is probable that the crackers were available only to members of the Muffin Club.

The book is in good condition considering these origins and although it is rather fragile, it appears to be complete. You'll probably need a magnifying glass to read any of the pages, though!
