Handcarved Coconut Flower Design Oval Plaque

A quite kitsch but well made oval wall plaque with carved multi-toned wood design which we believe is coconut, depicting stylised flowers and vase, complete with hanging string. The background of the plaque is made of a lighter sacking style fabric and the flowers have handpainted detailing. It is a good example of folk art using some rather unusual materials.

The plaque measures approximately 30 cm by 20 cm ( 12 in. by 8 in.) and is in very good vintage condition.

Deep carved Wooden Plaque depicting a Forest Scene with Stag and Deer

A superb piece for decoration, this deeply carved wooden plaque depicts a forest scene with stag and deer. We particularly like the detail and high relief of the overhanging branches! We're not absolutely sure of the origins of this piece nor how old it is, but stylistically it would seem to be older rather than newer. It is hand carved and the rear shows signs of wear and tear consistent for an item of some age. The wood itself is relatively light in weight.

Perhaps you like it just for what it is - we certainly did, and we've not seen another one like it.

The plaque measures approximately 35cm (13¾in) by 27cm (10¾in) by 1.7cm (¾in). The inner "frame" has a width of about 7mm (¼in.). The rear has a small slot for hanging.

Kitsch Deer and Forest Scene Wall Plaque

A very kitsch item... It's silver-coloured plastic on a dark wood background, depicting a somewhat three-dimensional scene with a stag and two deer in a forest setting. But, of course it is!

They say you can't improve on perfection, but we have painted the sides of the plaque in a blackboard finish paint to complete the look. There are some hole marks on the rear where the hanging has been changed at some point and there is a minor blemish on the front where there was possibly glue at some point (a sticker, perhaps?), but it's not very noticeable.

There's not much more that can be said about an item like this, except that it measures approximately 40cm by 20cm and is 1cm thick (15¾in by 8in by ½in).

If you like this kind of thing, then you'll like this thing - probably! ;)

Carved Wood Soviet-era Stylised Wall Plaque

This visually appealing wooden artwork features cream-coloured carving on a dramatic black background, and depicts a stylised scene of a river or lake and farmland. The label on the back indicates that it was bought from a state-run store (Beriozka) and was likely originally sourced from what is present-day Estonia around 1983.

The plaque is in excellent condition and measures approximately 34cm tall, 22.5cm wide, with a depth of 1cm (13in by 9in by ½in). It's quite a stunning piece.

VERY Kitsch Italian Padded Plaque of Bunny Rabbits

Sometimes, words feel so inadequate to describe an object, but here goes...

This is a padded picture inside an ornate brass frame of two bunny rabbits. It was made in Italy and measures approximately 22cm (8½in) by 11.5cm (4½in) with a depth of 1cm (½in)

(Ed.: I'm assured this is a fabulously and beautifully kitsch item, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder!).
