Vintage Purple Arthur Wood Hand Painted Piggy Bank (5272)

A pottery piggy bank, which dates from the 1970s and is unmistakeably an Arthur Wood piece, though no sticker is attached. The stylised floral design is hand painted in white and orange tones onto a deep plum/purple ground and the piece has the model number "5272" in gold to the base. Also on the base is the original plastic stopper.

The piggy bank measures approximately 22cm long, 12cm tall and 8.5cm wide. It's in good condition with just some surface grazes and minor wear from use, but no chips or cracks.

Chad Valley Hickory Dickory Dock Money Box Clock

A very colourful and rather charming metal money box made by Chad Valley and depicting the nursery rhyme "Hickory Dickory Dock" with a clock face (non-functioning) serving as the opening for the box and for helping children with learning the time.

The box measures 9cm x 9cm x 6cm and is in very good condition, bar a small scratch to the side (pictured).

Yorkshire Penny Bank Money Box (with key and container)

Patented in 1921 (the PAT no. 167841 is imprinted on the inner base), this Yorkshire Penny Bank money box has six individual slots for various pre-decimal coin types (Half Crown, Shilling, Six Pence, 6D & Half Sovereign, Penny and Half Penny) and a slot for notes. It is very heavily constructed and chrome plated, and is an unusual and interesting item in very good condition: no dents or dings or signs of forced access just some minor surface scratches. This is a good example of this item and dates from the period after 1947 (the coin slots refer to denominations introduced in that year) and before 1959, when the Yorkshire Penny Bank became the current Yorkshire Bank.

Originally, the Bank kept the saver's key, but we have complemented ours with a replica so that full access to the box contents is possible should you wish to use it. We also offer ours complete with the original container which is in fair condition considering its age (please see photos).

Measures 6cm (2¼in) high with a diameter of 8.5cm (3¼in).

Tin “Save in Time” money box bucket

We can't find out too much about this quirky little money box in the shape of a bucket, so we'll just go with what we do know. It's made in Germany (it has the "DGRM" mark underneath and most likely dates from the 1920s) for the foreign market (we suspect for the US) and it is constructed from thin tin. The slogan on the front is "Save In Time", and it has a coin slot in the lid and a hatch on the bottom which is not lockable but provides access to the money stored inside. The box is about 7cm tall and the diameter of the top is 9cm. It is slightly misshapen and has a few dents and the underneath is somewhat rusty but we think that only adds to its quirky desirability.

Please note, we do not have a key for the lock so this won't work for you if you need a fully-secure money box. But if you need that, this is probably not going to be your first option anyway!
