Made in the USA and believed to be ash wood. In good condition. Each "Hang Up" has a backplate which measures approximately 8cm (3¾ in.) by 4.5cm (1¾ in.) and has a brass nut for tightening the clamp section. Overall depth when fully clamped approximately 2.5cm (1 in.), excluding the nut.

]]> Vintage German Springerle or Confectionary Mould https://anythinginparticular.co.uk/product/vintage-german-springerle-or-confectionary-mould/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=vintage-german-springerle-or-confectionary-mould Fri, 27 Jul 2018 15:16:27 +0000 https://anythinginparticular.co.uk/?post_type=product&p=3009 Originally a wax mould used when making traditional German shortbread biscuits or as a patterning for marzipan, this now makes a very different kind of decorative object.  It was made by J & G Roscher of Germany - date unknown but likely before or around the time of the Second World War - and features pastoral and other symbolic images on its surface.

Measuring 16.5cm by 10cm by 1.5cm (6½ in. by 4 in. by ½ in.) the mould is in reasonable condition, but due to its material there are some signs of distortion and warping.  We think that all adds to its character and appeal. The mould has a string for wall hanging.
