A very original Bauhaus-styled black desk lamp with chrome hinged arm which rotates through 180 degrees and a distinctive bullet-shaped shade and ball and socket joint for adjusting its position. In full working condition and with original contrasting red switch, the lamp has bags of character and a striking design. Almost certainly originally made in continental Europe (German or French, possibly), and dating from at least as far back as the 1950s, the lamp has general signs of age and use throughout (including some minor dents to the shade). It has not been restored since the patina adds so much to its appeal, but it has been carefully cleaned.

The curved arm measures approximately 25cm (10 in.) in length and the lamp stands at a maximum height of 41cm (16 in.) with the arm positioned vertically. The base is 15cm (5½ in.) in diameter with a height of 2.5cm (1 in.). The shade is 15cm (6 in.) in length with an aperture diameter of 13cm (5 in.). The bulb holder is a large bayonet style and the lamp currently has a cable of approximately 120cm (47 in.) length. The underside of the base has an opening for wall-mounting the lamp. The wiring has been renewed, but as with all electrical items, an inspection and safetly test in your own environment (PAT testing in the UK) is recommended.

An absolutely charming wooden toy car, in a well-worn played-with condition which only adds to its appeal. Most likely made in England by Escor - though it is missing the characteristic oval sticker which would have been affixed to the bonnet - it is believed to date from the 1960s. Later models by Escor have a different wheel design, so this would seem to be an earlier model. The body of the car is actually in reasonably good condition, with most of the wear being on the recesses for the figures and on the black wheels. The figures are more play worn, but appear to be a man, a woman, a child and a dog. They "sit" in the car nicely and don't have any significant defects, though the paint is very worn - in the case of the dog figure particularly so.

It would make a great display item and it certainly has character in abundance!

It's all about character and this vintage snooker scoreboard has it in abundance. Well used over the years, it has a superb worn appearance which makes it a very interesting display piece, whether for a pub or retail environment or for the home. Quirky, that's the score.

The scoreboard - which is fully functional notwithstanding the wear and tear - measures approximately 41cm wide, with a height of 11cm and a depth of 2cm. A hook is attached to the back for wall mounting. The pointers slide freely on their rails.

Industrial Look Metal Bathroom Cabinet by GENYK

This small metal cabinet (30cm x 25cm x 11 cm / 12in x 10in x 4.5in) with a mirrored door, was presumably originally intended for use in a bathroom or work washroom, and was made in Britain by "Genyk" (stamped inside the door) sometime in the 1940s or 1950s. Ours is stripped back to reveal the metal and also lightly waxed for an unabashed industrial look.

The cabinet has two inner shelves of different heights for storage and has two holes in the back for wall mounting. The mirror is in good condition bar a few scratches and is quite heavy in the door, so this cabinet probably isn't stable enough for free standing unless you intend to weight it down. The interior has been cleaned and re-painted to provide a hammered silver look which is complementary to the exterior and to the exposed welds. The door handle is not original - we have added a new one which we think is sympathetic to the no-nonsense look of the cabinet, but it would be a simple task to replace with your choice of hardware. The original toothbrush holder is missing from the inside of the door, a minor fault when compared to the aesthetic appeal of this cabinet. And the surface patina of dings, scratches and scrapes only add to that, we think.
