From the Playworld series of children's activity toys this is Play Circus. Made by Waddingtons, it features a set of thick card figures - a variety of circus-themed items such as people, animals, and othr props - with plastic stands and wheels which can be used in conjunction with a set of thinner card playmats and story cards. This set has been played with and might not be complete, but there is plenty there to get your teeth into and certainly enough to create most, if not all, of the set. Please review the photographs to be assured of what is present.

The box is in fair condition considering its age, but it does have some deformation and a tear to the front where tape has been removed a little too aggressively. The playmat cards show some signs of wear and use, as do some of the other items, but the set is broadly in good, used, condition.

Playworld children's activity toy by Waddingtons, which dates from 1982, based around the theme of the seaside. It features a set of thick card figures - a variety of items such as people, a donkey, Punch and Judy, an open-topped bus, sandcastle, deck chair, etc. - with plastic stands and wheels which can be used in conjunction with a set of thinner card playmats and story cards. This appears to be completely unused, which is rather sad in many ways!

The plastics (srands and wheels) are still attached to their mounts and most of the figure shapes are retained in their original cards, although one or two have worked themselves free over time. The box is in good condition considering its age.

Playworld children's activity toy by Waddingtons, which dates from 1982, based around the theme of a Post Office. It features a set of thick card figures with plastic stands and wheels which can be used in conjunction with a set of thinner card playmats and story cards. This remarkably appears to be completely unused.

The plastics are still in their original bags and attached to their mounts and most of the figure shapes are retained in their original cards, although one or two have worked themselves free over time. The box is in good condition considering its age.

A toy which is very uncommon and even less likely to be in this preserved state if you ever do stumble across one. It would suit an enthusiast of old games or might make a quirky gift for a post office worker or postmaster/postmistress. Or, perhaps, it might just get used for its original purpose, finally - and it would be great for that to be the case.

An absolutely charming wooden toy car, in a well-worn played-with condition which only adds to its appeal. Most likely made in England by Escor - though it is missing the characteristic oval sticker which would have been affixed to the bonnet - it is believed to date from the 1960s. Later models by Escor have a different wheel design, so this would seem to be an earlier model. The body of the car is actually in reasonably good condition, with most of the wear being on the recesses for the figures and on the black wheels. The figures are more play worn, but appear to be a man, a woman, a child and a dog. They "sit" in the car nicely and don't have any significant defects, though the paint is very worn - in the case of the dog figure particularly so.

It would make a great display item and it certainly has character in abundance!

Remarkably this airport-themed Playworld children's activity toy by Waddingtons, which dates from 1982, has never been used. It features a set of thick card figures with plastic stands and wheels which can be used in conjunction with a set of thinner card playmats and story cards.

The plastics are still in their original bags and attached to their mounts and most of the figure shapes are retained in their original cards, although one or two have worked themselves free over time. The box is in quite good condition and has affixed to it the original price stickers.

A toy which is now uncommon and even less likely to be in this preserved state if you ever do stumble across one. We think it would suit an enthusiast of old games or of travel, or might make a quirky gift for a pilot or airline worker. Or, perhaps, it might just get used for its original purpose, finally - and we'd absolutely love for that to happen as well.

One of the most desirably kitsch tins we've come across, this small Sharp's Toffee tin features a colourfully illustrated lid of a young boy feeding the pigeons. Illustrated by Cora E. M. Paterson, we suspect the original image was from an earlier children's book illustration. The tin features a reference of royal appointment to the late King George VI, which would seem to date the tin to 1952 or slightly thereafter.

The photos of the item tell the rest of the story, but the tin is approximately 13cm by 9cm by 3cm (5in. by 3½in. by 1¼in.). There is some minor paint loss and wear and tear and some slight deformations in the shape but overall this tin is in very good, used, condition.

A "moonlamp" nightlight made by V&E Ltd. (aka Friedland - more famous for door bells and door chimes as we are sure you already know) in England. This was intended to provide a low light level from a standard bayonet light fitting and was borne out of the necessity for lighting to be subdued from its normal level during wartime blackouts. This version dates back to that time and beyond it into the 1950s and is fitted with an internal transformer to reduce the input voltage to safely power the small torch bulb inside. Ours is in very good condition - no chips, cracks or significant scratches, and fully working. It also has the original label/collar around the base of the bulb.

The moonlamp nightlight is 110mm (4½in) long with a 55mm (2in) maximum diameter.

If you or your child likes to whistle and you like to brush, then this junior 1950s "B-B" toothbrush is for you!

Evidence: the box is decorated with whistling birds and on the back is the exhortation "I like to Whistle... I like to Brush!". We have absolutely no clue as to the connection between whistling and dental hygiene... please ask your dentist. Or don't and just enjoy this really quirky piece!
