Vintage 1960s Danish Self-Build Spice Rack with original Family Circle Magazine

If there was a Museum of Mail Order (MOMO), then this would be a good candidate for exhibition. It's rare to find an item where the chronology and paperwork are so clearly evinced, but this is certainly one of them. It is a Danish-made spice or herb jar storage rack which was self-assembled by the purchaser and bought by mail order. As can be seen in the included magazine, it was publicised in the pages of the March 1968 issue of Family Circle. The magazine is included with the item.

In this case, the item also has its original postage box and all of the included parts from the initial purchase, ready for re-assembly. As can be seen from the photos, some of the jars have previously been used (contents in the jar and/or labels affixed) and we have left them "as is". Ten glass jars with cork stoppers are included as well as 19 adhesive labels still on their backing paper. The hanging fixtures are also included, but it can also stand alone. When built, the storage rack measures approximately 34cm (13½ in.) long and 23.5cm (9½ in.) high.

Large Statement Piece Red Orange and White Italian Glass Vase

A stunning red, orange and white glass vase in heavy glass, this is most likely from the workshops of Murano, the Venetian glass makers responsible for many mid-century classics. It dates from the early 1970s and - due to its size and weight - is very much a statement piece. The vase measures approximately 28cm (11 in.) in height with a rim diameter of 6cm (2½ in.) and a similar base diameter. The interior of the vase is white glass whilst the exterior is composed of a swirling effect with red, white and orange colours (any resemblance to the planet Jupiter almost certainly deliberate!), with proportions which emphasise the upper section of the vase and the rim.

In very good condition with no chips or cracks, the vase has a few minor imperfections some of which are undoubtledly originating from the manufacturing process. A rare piece which is sure to attract attention.

Vintage French Opaline Glass Mug with Risque Roadsign Humour

A bit of French cheek [chic...geddit?].

A vintage mug with a design which tells a risque "joke" based on roadsigns and anatomy.
In opaline or milk glass, it's a standard mug otherwise. The transfer "design" is repeated on two sides of the mug, which measures 8cm (just over 3 in.) tall with a similar rim diameter. The mug is in very good condition: no chips or cracks or no significant signs of use.

Vintage Araven Condiments Cruet Set in Green Plastic

A glass and plastic cruet set in a light green colour, which is comprised of two salt and pepper pots and two bottles for oil and vinegar, which sit in a "caddy" style stand with handle. Made by "Araven" of Zaragoza, Spain, it probably dates from the 1980s. In good condition, with some minor signs of age and wear.

For reference, the stand measures 19cm (7½ in.) in height, with the stand approximately 13.5cm (5¼ in.) square, and the two larger bottles are approximately 15cm tall (6 in.) with a diameter of 5cm (2 in.).

Vintage Arcoroc “Amazone” Turquoise Blue Irregular Swirl Glass Fruit Bowl

A very striking glass bowl with an irregular swirl design made by Arcoroc of France. The bowl is not only an unusual shape, but also an unusual turquoise colour and comes with its original box. Designed as a fruit bowl, it measures 16cm (6¼ in.) in diameter, and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and with original sticker still attached.

Set of 6 brown and orange “Drink Up” style plastic and glass cups

A set of six unbranded - but very much in the style of JAJ/Pyrex's Drink Ups - cups, with their plastic bases and handles and removable glass inner, are presented in very fetching orange and brown tones. Whether for the camper van, to take out on picnics, or simply for use at home these are a great little set of cups which probably date from the 1970s.

Each cup measures approximately 7cm (2¾ in.) in height with a rim diameter of 7cm (2¾ in.) and a base of 4cm (1½ in.). In very good clean condition with no chips or cracks to the glass or the plastics. Only very very minor signs of any use at all.

Vintage Sklo Union Glass “Maze” Vase designed by Fratizek Visner

Known as the "maze" vase, the Frantizek Visner-designed glass vase by Sklo Union is rather emblematic of its time - and a good-looking piece for now too. It's a chunky piece measuring approximately 25 cm high (10 in.) with a base measuring 10cm (4 in.) which reflects and refracts light in interesting ways with its deeply pressed glass pattern coming to the fore.

In excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.

Heavy Vintage Rounded Square Glass Bowl with Smoked Mustard-Orange Gradient

Weighing in at almost 900g this rounded square bowl is a solidly sculpted piece of glass and certainly an eye-catching piece, possibly from Murano, but this cannot be confirmed with absolute certainty. With its very thick rounded rim in clear glass and its graduated colour which appears almost solid at the base, it interacts with light in very interesting ways. From some angles there's a mustard-like tone to the colour, from other angles it's more of a deep orange-brown, and then again, dark brown hues almost a black tone, takes precedent in the refracted colours. Measuring approximately 18cm (7 in.) square at the rim, and approximately 7.5 cm (3 in.) in height, it makes much more of a statement than its dimensions suggest.

The bowl is in generally good condition. There are some minor grazes and surface scratches throughout but no chips or cracks and there's nothing that immediately catches the eye in a detrimental way. A little stunner, albeit a chunky one!

Mid-Century Teak and Glass Small Storage or Spice Jars by DIGSMED, Denmark

A fine looking pair of DIGSMED small glass storage or spice jars with teak tops dating from the 1960s and made in Denmark. They don't seem to be oddments from a spice rack set and appear to have been sold separately. Evidence of this is provided by the fact that they still have original labels attached - the maker's label and some other label which would seem to either be an item identifier or a shop label.

Both jars have metal screw top lids which are capped with a very mid-century modern style teak. The larger of the two - measuring about 10cm (4 in.) high with a diameter of 7cm (2¾ in.) has "1/8 Kg" embossed to the base which is also where its maker's sticker is. The snaller of the two - measuring about 10cm (4 in.) high with a diameter of 5.5cm (2 1/8 in.) - has no such embossing and its marker's sticker is on the side. The smaller jar has a slightly lighter tone to the wooden "cap". Both jars are in very good condition - no chips or cracks to the glass and the wood is similarly good. Both have some tarnishing to the metal interiors.

Vintage Orange/Amber Optical Art Spiral Design Double Waisted Glass Vase

A stunning glass vase measuring 24 cm (9½ in.) in height with a double waisted design and a very eye-catching spiral pattern running through it. It's a relatively delicate piece of glass in an orange-amber colour (more orange than some of the brown-tinged amber colours which you see) and it really dazzles with light behind it and the interplay of the spiral patterns coming to the fore. Unmarked but very probably from Empoli, Italy. The photos here really don't do it justice, though we've tried! The vase is handblown with the very distinctive marks to the base which are evidence of this method of manufacture and though we can't be sure, it's most likely of Italian origin.

In good condition, with some minor grazes only to the surface and no chips or cracks. The rim is very good. There are other imperfections from the making process but nothing which detracts from the overall look of the vase. The base measures approximately 8 cm (3 in.) and as mentioned it's about 24 cm (9½ in.) in height.
