A small group of vintage East German "Erzegebirge" wooden village miniatures, comprised of 10 houses (7 red roofs and 3 blue roofs) and one civic building with a clock. Only one bears a stamp underneath which reads "Made In GDR" but they are all of a kind. In good vintage condition with some signs of age and use, but nothing which is detrimental.

Overall, a charming little display set which adds a quirky touch of colour to a shelf and is a good example of Erzegebirge craft.

A wonderful little collection of vintage East German "Erzegebirge" wooden village miniatures. The set includes walls (five), houses (five red, four blue), a church and what appears to be a town hall - with these two latter buildings bearing a stamp underneath which reads "Made In GDR". In good vintage condition with some signs of age and use, but nothing which is detrimental - rather the opposite. One of the wall pieces does however have some red ink on it (please see photograph), but we have left that "as is".

Overall, a charming little display set which adds a quirky touch of colour to a shelf and is a good example of Erzegebirge craft.

For boiled eggs with a bit of panache... a pair of vintage Cascade Glass egg saucers with a textured effect in their original box with maker's label present and intact. Each saucer has a diameter of 11.5 cm (4½ in.) and a depth of 2.5cm (1 in.) and is almost certainly based on an original Danish design used under license. These would appear to date from the 1970s.

In unused condition. The outer box has some minor signs of age and wear, but is in good cosmetic and structural condition.

A quite kitsch but well made oval wall plaque with carved multi-toned wood design which we believe is coconut, depicting stylised flowers and vase, complete with hanging string. The background of the plaque is made of a lighter sacking style fabric and the flowers have handpainted detailing. It is a good example of folk art using some rather unusual materials.

The plaque measures approximately 30 cm by 20 cm ( 12 in. by 8 in.) and is in very good vintage condition.

A very large (56cm / 22 in. from head to hem of costume) handmade costumed puppet in the traditional style of Rajasthan, India. This one in particular is a female character seemingly a dancer, superbly rendered in wood and paint with a colourful costume of predominantly black, red and yellow. She has all the hallmarks of a dancing figure - with hands position, the jewelry and headdress being key. The details are very difficult to capture - in particular the carving and painting of the headdress is very impressive indeed. It is held by way of a central wooden rod and controllable via wires connected to the arms rather than being a kathputli or stringed puppet.

Overall in good condition, but it is obviously of some age and has been much used - there is obvious wear and tear to parts of the head in particular and she is missing a "pom-pom" earring one side (the wire is there but the red wool is not - easily remedied we feel). She is, however, a striking item and might interest someone with a love for puppetry, a passion for India, or just wants something very different in their home.

A very large (56cm / 22 in. from head to hem of costume) handmade costumed puppet in the traditional style of Rajasthan, India. This one in particular is a Male musician character all superbly rendered in wood and paint with a colourful costume of yellow, blue, purple and pink. He appears to be playing a sarangi or dilruba instrument which might indicate a Sikh reference along with the headwear. The details are very difficult to capture and the intricacy of the costume is quite stunning, consisting of complicated stitching, sequins and varied materials. It is held by way of a central wooden rod and controllable via wires connected to the arms rather than being a kathputli or stringed puppet.

We were immediately drawn to this fellow, a carved Red Cedar wood bird when we saw him. And he followed us home as a result. There's something about him, aside from the obvious skilled craftsmanship. The base is signed with the maker's name, "C. R. Seyfort" and an indication it was made in Victoria, British Columbia. Our research shows similar items of some age, carved in a very similar way by the same craftsperson, and all show a similar flair for design and execution.

Carved in fine sympathy with the grain, this goose (?!) measures approximately 36cm (14 in.) high with a base 9cm (3½ in.) in length. At his widest he's approximately 6cm (2¼ in.), so he'll sit snugly on a narrow shelf or mantel. He's got a few scars and scrapes from old age, but he still looks perky. This is not the kind of item we would want to look pristine and perfect, anyway - it's a character piece through and through.
