A set of vintage weighing scales, dating from the 1950s and made by the Universal Woodworking Co. of Birmingham. Designed to be used for weighing letters and printed papers for inland posting, the scales measure up to 8oz with the weights provided in various configurations, with the largest at 4oz and the two smallest at ½oz. The base is of a heavy black metal construction with chromed scales for the item to be weighed and the weights to be placed. The dial and cost guide is in good condition. Overall, a good-looking and unusual item complete with its original box in very good condition and a good example of packaging of the era.

The scales measure approximately 24 cm across the front by 8.5 cm deep by 8 cm high (9½ in. by 3¼ in. by 3 in. approx.) and are in good used condition.

What can be said that the photos don't say!? Bold design (1970s Ford Capri, anyone?), bright golden yellow, black and white colour scheme. A highly usable set of old school kitchen scales. Swedish. Made by EKS. That's it - just look at them! These have got to be the funkiest looking kitchen scales you've ever seen. If not, then get in touch, because the competition is on!

The scales are in excellent working condition with very minimal signs of wear or age to the plastics. They measure approximately 20cm (8 in.) by 16cm (6¼ in.) by 15cm (6 in.) when in the "stored" position shown in the photo, and approximately 24cm (9½ in.) by 16cm (6¼ in.) by 18.5cm (7¼ in.) when in use with the tray on top of the base. There is a calibration dial on the face of the scales and the weights are displayed primarily in Kilogrammes and then secondarily in Pounds and Ounces.

A very stylish teal (blue-green) glass vase with what appears to be a transfer design resembling stylised fish scales or fans all with a gradient from a lighter tone at the top to a darker tone at the bottom. We don't know precisely how old this is, but we wouldn't at all be surprised if it dated from the 1960s. It also appears to be handmade, since there are some variations in the positioning of the designs. You might call this inconsistency a defect, but if that's the case then it's probably a sign of the human touch if anything!

The vase measures approx. 17cm (6¾ in) in height with a diameter at the top of 8cm (3¼ in) and at the base of 6cm(2½ in). It's in very good condition, no chips or cracks, just some horizontal "banding" to the finish which is barely noticeable except when scrutinised closely.
