Philips HR 5284 Small Electric Alarm Clock Made in West Germany

A rare electic alarm clock with analogue display delivered in a glossy black body with full front bezel. This is a model Hr 5284 made by Philips in West Germany, which was available in red/orange and grey/black colours schemes. It's a small unit, measuring just 12cm across the front, with a height of 7cm and a depth of 6cm, with the only departure from the smooth lines and surfaces being the alarm control button on the top of the body. The seconds hand is of the silent sweep variety and the face has fluorescent indicators. Time and alarm time setting is achieved via the adjuster at the rear of the body, which performs both roles with a push/pull mechanism. Please note, the alarm is a "buzzer" style and is relatively subdued. A service might improve this (i.e. make it louder), of course.

In good working condition with just a few minor surface blemishes/grazes to be expected of an item of this age and use.

1950s Scheurich Speckled Ceramic Vase in Black, Yellow, Blue and Red

A very attractive and rare 1950s vase made by Scheurich. The exterior features a grey speckled ground, incised stripes in blue, red, and yellow, and a three-sided, slightly irregular, form which is a great example typical of the era. The interior is a contrasing white. Measuring approximately 20cm (8 in.) in height, the vase has a truncated sloping rim, and contrasting hand-decorated wavy gold lines within flat black stripes to complete the look. The makers mark is worn and not readily discernible but we have identified it as a product of Scheurich.

The vase is in very good condition with no chips or cracks - and it would make a stunning addition to a mid-century home or as a statement piece in a more modern environment.

1970s Papermate Mouse Novelty Pen Holder – desktop fun and kitsch!

If this little thing doesn't bring a smile to your face, then, well... sorry. It's a pen holder from Papermate and made in F.R. Germany (that's West Germany to you and I) and dates from the latter part of the 1970s. It's a mouse. And it's on a spring. Which basically means when a pen is taken from or inserted into it, it bounces away in a very cheerful fashion. It's a simple bit of vintage fun for your desk... and an increasingly scarce item to encounter.

In good condition, without original box unfortunately. The mouse's tail does have a slight kink to it, but it's there - often they aren't, so let's be thankful. Pen not included in this sale - and the eagle-eyed might have noticed it's not a Papermate anyway ;)

Small Bay Keramik West German Vase in Brown, Yellow and Black 511-14

A small slightly shouldered vase, made by Bay Keramik in West Germany, in muted brown tones with a yellow interior and slightly raised abstract pattern in black around its middle. Measures 14cm in height (5½ in.) with a rim diameter of 5cm (2 in.), a base diameter of 7cm (2¾ in.) and a maximum width of approximately 9cm (3½ in.)

In good condition with no chips or cracks and just minor signs of age and use. Stamped to the bottom BAY WEST GERMANY with the form number 511-14.

Vintage West German Nodding Bobble Head Dachshund Dog by Breba

This cute little vintage plastic figure is one of a range of bobble head / bobbling nodding / nodder animals made by Breba of West Germany. In this case, it's a Dachshund whose head and tail are articulated and weighted to provide the entertainment. Measuring 13cm (5 in.) from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail, this little dog is a quirky little ornament for the Dachsie lover or the collector of these unusual objects.

In good condition with no chips or cracks or missing parts (often the ends of their tails are sadly lacking!).

West German Marei Keramik Blue and Brown Floral Handpainted Planter Pot

A gorgeously decorated planter in predominantly navy, cyan, and brown tones with a classic and characteristic cylindrical form, made by Marei Keramik. Dating from the 1970s and stamped "Made In W. Germany, the planter features a textured and incised (sgraffito) ground with a handpainted flowers and leaves design, with a boldly contrasting solid navy blue interior.

This one is in very good condition with no chips or cracks and seemingly little used, although being a vintage piece you should expect minor scuffs and signs of age. It measures approximately 12cm (4¾in.) in height and a similar diameter. It's a solid piece and would serve as originally intended i.e. as a plant pot holder or equally well as a pen, stationery, or utensils pot.

Yellow and Black Kaiser Space Age Pedestal Globe Clock

A rather cheerful and funky black and yellow pedestal clock in glorious plastic with more than a hint of "Space Age" and "Panton" about it. The black "tulip" style pedestal base, clock face, and alarm button contrast starkly with the yellow housing, white numerals, and white hands to make quite a punchy statement. In good working condition with only minor signs of age and wear, mainly superficial scratches to the plastics.

Measures approximately 20cm (8in.) in height with a base diameter of 11cm (4¼ in.).

Please note: this clock has an audible tick which, although not loud, the buyer should be aware of. It is also possible that this clock is missing a rear body section to cover the adjustments and winders.

Dumler & Breiden Form 108/20 Vase in White/Grey Speckled, Teal and Orange

A decidely striking vase by Dumler & Breiden in the form 108/20, featuring a slightly speckled and textured white ground offset by a glazed and textured middle section featuring square and circle shapes and teal and orange colours. As if that wasn't enough, the interior is finished in a glazed black. VERY funky.

The vase is 20cm (8 in.) tall and is 14cm (5½ in.) in diameter at its widest point. The rim and base are both approximately 9cm (3½ in.) in diameter. In very good condition with no chips or cracks.

Very Large West German Schlossberg Keramik “Staufen” Vase

Coming in at a whopping 36cm high, this Schlossberg Keramik vase made in the early 1960s in West Germany, is as much a piece of sculpture as it is a ceramic item. Decorated in the "Staufen" design it is a visually stunning piece with a dark grey striped ground punctuated by raised white lines and panels of colour: red, yellow and a greenish-blue. It's an eye-catching design with an Atomic style, slightly bulging middle and curved rim and at the size that it is, it would certainly make an impact in anyone's home.

The vase is in excellent unchipped and uncracked condition. There are some very minor blemishes and one section of vertical white stripe is slightly lacking towards the top, but this appears to be from the original manufacturing process rather than anything that happened to the vase subsequently.

The base has the Schlossberg mark on it and the form number impressed into it. The mark is not absolutely distinct - it would seem to be "101/36" but we could be mistaken about that.

West German Georg Schmider Zeller Vase 4338-2

A very uncommonly shaped slender vase by Georg Schmider, the form of which dates from the late 1950s. The vase is finished in a delicious - almost matte - glaze and features abstract swirling flower shapes which appear to be handpainted in mauve, teal and light green colours. The simplicity of the vase belies the quality of the execution and it's very tactile.

The base has the form shape debossed into it "4338/2" and "Made in Western Germany" printed on it. This one is in near-perfect condition with no discernible marks, cracks, or chips.

The vase measures 20cm (8 in.) in height, with a base diameter of 6cm (2¼ in.). The top rim diameter (internally) is approximately 2.5cm (1 in.)
