West German Georg Schmider Zeller Vase 4338-2
A very uncommonly shaped slender vase by Georg Schmider, the form of which dates from the late 1950s. The vase is finished in a delicious – almost matte – glaze and features abstract swirling flower shapes which appear to be handpainted in mauve, teal and light green colours. The simplicity of the vase belies the quality of the execution and it’s very tactile.
The base has the form shape debossed into it “4338/2” and “Made in Western Germany” printed on it. This one is in near-perfect condition with no discernible marks, cracks, or chips.
The vase measures 20cm (8 in.) in height, with a base diameter of 6cm (2¼ in.). The top rim diameter (internally) is approximately 2.5cm (1 in.)
