A rarity indeed, this is a 1970s windup toy featuring the character of "Woof" from the "Timbuctoo" series by Roger Hargreaves (he of Mr. Men fame). The cute hat-wearing dog figure is made of a composite resin with a simple wind-up mechanism which makes Woof walk.

Measuring approximatley 8cm in height, this particular Woof is in good condition considering his age and undoubted use. His mechanism works, albeit a little slowly.

This cute little vintage plastic figure is one of a range of bobble head / bobbling nodding / nodder animals made by Breba of West Germany. In this case, it's a Dachshund whose head and tail are articulated and weighted to provide the entertainment. Measuring 13cm (5 in.) from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail, this little dog is a quirky little ornament for the Dachsie lover or the collector of these unusual objects.

In good condition with no chips or cracks or missing parts (often the ends of their tails are sadly lacking!).

A gloriously colourful, ever-so-slightly cheeky and immensely cute vintage French wooden pull-along dog toy, made by Educalux and dating to the 1970s. What to say? Well, this chap has a number of notable features: principally, he's made up of various independently rotating sections, he has flapping plastic ears attached with metal rivets, his original sticker is still present on one of the wooden wheels, and for some unknown reason he has a kind of tartan fabric mid-section. It should also be pointed out that he's had a nose job. No, that's not his original nose, it's a newly-added one done in the style of the original which wasn't present when he was "re-homed". It's a good match and it's likely that if you didn't know, you wouldn't know - if that makes sense. His pull cord is not original either, but again it is a good match for the original kind of cotton cord that would have been, but wasn't.

This cheerfully bright and well-made dog measures approximately 26cm (10 in.) long with a height of approximately 18cm (7 in.). He might be a he. But could be a she. Either way, difficult to resist :)

Offers to rehome this delightful little dog are warmly invited.

An absolutely charming wooden toy car, in a well-worn played-with condition which only adds to its appeal. Most likely made in England by Escor - though it is missing the characteristic oval sticker which would have been affixed to the bonnet - it is believed to date from the 1960s. Later models by Escor have a different wheel design, so this would seem to be an earlier model. The body of the car is actually in reasonably good condition, with most of the wear being on the recesses for the figures and on the black wheels. The figures are more play worn, but appear to be a man, a woman, a child and a dog. They "sit" in the car nicely and don't have any significant defects, though the paint is very worn - in the case of the dog figure particularly so.

It would make a great display item and it certainly has character in abundance!

Put some money aside and put a smile on your (or someone else's) face courtesy of this Arthur Wood handpainted ceramic dog money box which dates from the 1960s or 1970s. Finished with an orange and brown floral design on a white ground this little canine comes complete with happy eyes, seemingly wet nose, a warm smile, and original sticker still adhered to his tail. Rather unusually, this one features blue eyes - others we have seen have rather plain looking painted eyes.

In very good condition with only very minor signs of wear and age (the odd graze to the finish), the money box has its original "bung" and is signed to the base. The dog is approximately 18cm (7 in.) long.

For the desk with everything but a vintage novelty dog with propelling pencils, we present to you a vintage novelty dog with propelling penciles for your desk. Despite the obvious kitsch/quirky credentials, the item is very nicely cast and is substantial in weight if not in size.

The die-cast white metal dog, measuring 3¼ in (88mm) long, pulls an equally diminutive cart with holes for the pencils (measuring 1¾ in./4.5cm each not including tassles) and probably dates from between the 1930s and the 1950s. The pencils have some minor discolouration and dents and the metal shows signs of wear, but overall it is in good condition, with no damage. The underneath of the cart is marked "FOREIGN".

Sometimes we come across items for which words alone aren't enough and this is one of them. What can we say about it? Well, at the outset it's a set of carved wooden bottle stoppers with a stand. For some reason - answers on a carved wooden postcard, please - there are two dogs and an owl and each has orange glass eyes. Although it's difficult to age, we are led to believe it's possibly from the 1930s or 1940s. It's weird and wonderful and we really like it!

The owl measures 7.3cm high, the flat-eared dog 7.5cm, and the dog with pointed ears 9cm high (without cork stoppers). The stand is 6.5cm high, 12.5cm wide and 3cm thick.
