Sometimes we come across items for which words alone aren’t enough and this is one of them. What can we say about it? Well, at the outset it’s a set of carved wooden bottle stoppers with a stand. For some reason – answers on a carved wooden postcard, please – there are two dogs and an owl and each has orange glass eyes. Although it’s difficult to age, we are led to believe it’s possibly from the 1930s or 1940s. It’s weird and wonderful and we really like it!
The owl measures 7.3cm high, the flat-eared dog 7.5cm, and the dog with pointed ears 9cm high (without cork stoppers). The stand is 6.5cm high, 12.5cm wide and 3cm thick.
