Vintage Novelty Die-Cast Desk Dog with Propelling Pencils

For the desk with everything but a vintage novelty dog with propelling pencils, we present to you a vintage novelty dog with propelling penciles for your desk. Despite the obvious kitsch/quirky credentials, the item is very nicely cast and is substantial in weight if not in size.

The die-cast white metal dog, measuring 3¼ in (88mm) long, pulls an equally diminutive cart with holes for the pencils (measuring 1¾ in./4.5cm each not including tassles) and probably dates from between the 1930s and the 1950s.  The pencils have some minor discolouration and dents and the metal shows signs of wear, but overall it is in good condition, with no damage. The underneath of the cart is marked “FOREIGN”.
