Mid-Century Teak and Glass Small Storage or Spice Jars by DIGSMED, Denmark
£16.00
A fine looking pair of DIGSMED small glass storage or spice jars with teak tops dating from the 1960s and made in Denmark. They don’t seem to be oddments from a spice rack set and appear to have been sold separately. Evidence of this is provided by the fact that they still have original labels attached – the maker’s label and some other label which would seem to either be an item identifier or a shop label.
Both jars have metal screw top lids which are capped with a very mid-century modern style teak. The larger of the two – measuring about 10cm (4 in.) high with a diameter of 7cm (2¾ in.) has “1/8 Kg” embossed to the base which is also where its maker’s sticker is. The snaller of the two – measuring about 10cm (4 in.) high with a diameter of 5.5cm (2 1/8 in.) – has no such embossing and its marker’s sticker is on the side. The smaller jar has a slightly lighter tone to the wooden “cap”. Both jars are in very good condition – no chips or cracks to the glass and the wood is similarly good. Both have some tarnishing to the metal interiors.
