Signed Artist’s Proof of Anne Hathaway’s Cottage by William “Willie” Rawson
Active in the early part of the 20th Century, William “Willie” Rawson (b. 1865. d. 1949) resided in Sheffield and was known for working mainly in the medium of drypoint etching. This particular piece depicting Anne Hathaway’s Cottage is indicated as a “limited edition signed artist’s proof”. The back of the board retains the original label of the Boot’s Picture Framing Department.
The artist has signed the piece in pencil. The frame measures 23cm by 31cm (9in by 12¼in) and both the print and the frame remain in good condition, with only minor signs of ageing.
