Vintage Concord Lighting Superjet Reading Lamp by Robert Heritage 1969

Winner of one of the two CoID Design Awards which Robert Heritage received in 1969, this is the “Super Jet” light, for Concord Lighting International (a division of Rotaflex). It’s a low voltage, small (6cm x 6cm x 15cm) reading lamp with an anodised aluminium eyeball for the shade and a rectangular body made of polypropylene. It was made to be wall-mountable or usable as a desk lamp. It’s a design classic, and it’s easy to see why.
This one isn’t complete. What’s missing is the spiral insert from the shade and the plastic wall mount bracket. It also shows some signs of wear and age, particularly on the eyeball which has some surface scuffs from use. Reasonable offers are invited on this lamp – even with these deficiencies, it is a great little item and a piece of design history.
