Elegant Mid-Century Style Teak Lamp Base and Shade

We’re not sure of the origins of this teak table lamp base, but what is certain is that has great styling. Regardless of where it was made and who made it – there are no maker’s marks and it might very well be a one-off piece – it indisputably has a mid-century aesthetic which holds great appeal.  We particularly like the slender and slightly tapered upright and the subtle sculpting to the base. We have restored the wood and paired the lamp stand with a teal colour shade which we think is the perfect complement to it.

The stand measures 25 cm (10 in.) to the bulb holder and the base has a diameter of 16 cm (6¼ in.). With the shade, the lamp measures 40 cm (16 in.) tall. The lamp looks to have its original thin wiring – which is a good length – and takes a bayonet bulb. There is some minor wear to the base and we have replaced the protective felt on the underside of it as the original was not in good shape.
